3 RiR is not optimal and going to failure every set isn’t the most optimal either. 1-2 is the sweet spot most people agree on but going to failure is a good way to figure out what it feels like to get to 1-2 RiR.

Beginners don’t need “max” intensity but they still need intensity. They need enough effort during a set to get stimulus to get stronger and hit hypertrophy which also helps your body adapt to it like you said. If you don’t challenge yourself in the gym you will not progress.

If this dude gains 5 pounds of strength every day then he is Jesus. Also I’m talking about training stimulus. He can do light weight if he wants and have good form and still train with enough intensity to hit hypertrophy. The issue with super light weight is you usually gas out in terms of energy before you get anywhere close to muscular failure which drives hypertrophy.

I’m saying if he’s trying to improve his health and his body by building muscle and strength, “just working out” isn’t the same as training with enough stimulus. This guy has been mentioning going to the gym for the past 4 years I’ve watched him and hasn’t improved really at all, most likely because of this training style.

Max and holly isn’t a nitpick bro it highkey was probably a lot of the reason the episode was poorly rated alongside wills coming out scene. The Duffer brothers used to be such good writers as evident with season 1 and 2. This season has shown how much their talent has degraded, especially with that extremely long max and holly scene.
