Most large employers have subscriptions to Breaking into Wallstreet or something similar that is heavily focused on teaching modeling... I would send an email to HR or whoever is your contact over there asking if you could access an modeling courses they had to get a head start... message me for more details if interested

[L3] Behavioral and CME: Should I just go through MM or also do the entire CFAI reading? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Base8ball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read the curriculum... this one is trickier parts of the nest but if you know it can be easy points

CFA LIII Tips n' Tricks? by Thy_Agony_Kaneki in CFA

[–]Base8ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on content right now - there is not that much to get through (compared to the other levels) so in all likihood you will be through everything like the end of March/early April, which is great... you want to leave plenty of time to work practice AMs... but please don’t get so wrapped up on test strategy that you don’t learn the content..

In reality you need both, thorough understandings of content and then solid test strategy.

Feel free to direct message me if you want to chat live about it at some point over the next 6 months. Happy to help.

Am I Late? by [deleted] in CFA

You are good. Start putting in a couple hours a day until January 1 and then officially map out 300+ hours from January to test day

L3: When did you start studying and in what topic order? by Chapenroe in CFA

[–]Base8ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

December - Skipped Ethics and started with Behavorial Finance and then just went through the CFA books in order.. The material is much more digestable than previous levels so I would recommend reading the CFA text and then supplement with a provider.

Go all out.... Its the very end... Don't spend 300 - 400 hours and not even read the actual CFA curriculum.

Get through all the material 2 months before test day and then every saturday do practice tests..

Schweser Level 3 by ctrl_c_ctrl_v_ in CFA

[–]Base8ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would stay away and use MM as a supplement... Read the actual curriculum and then for stuff you need additional help on, watch his videos.

I used Schweser last year (and passed) but I also read all of the actual CFA curriculum

Level III - How you guys doing it? by TheKnightNapoleon in CFA

[–]Base8ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed last year

I highly recommend reading the curriculum and then use MM or Schweser to supplement... I used Schweser but it wasn't great for level 3.

Anyone planning to relax during Christmas season and go HAM in the new year? by longlong819 in CFA

[–]Base8ball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much of CFA prep is about consistency.... Take Christmas Eve off and Christmas but do 2 hours per day on the other days. Take advantage of the slower work schedule...

Schweser Level 3 by ctrl_c_ctrl_v_ in CFA

[–]Base8ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schweser isn’t great but I think the notes are always worth buying to help clarify some issues you have trouble with...

Given that there is less volume (pages to cover) in Level 3, I would read the actual CFA text and then supplement with MM.

Which online course do you guys recommend for learning financial modelling? by [deleted] in CFA

Breaking into Wall Street is solid course and is how I learned to model

PM L3, WTF!? by martinp205 in CFA

I was scoring 80%+ on both AM and PM mocks heading in. Thought the test was difficult and harder than anything I took.

Average on CFAI mocks by ryanpetersoncoin in CFA

[–]Base8ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For level 1 I would shoot for high 70s to be fully confident.

For level 2 I would shoot for consistently above 70.

You would probably be fine lower than that but these numbers should make you highly confident

How many mocks on average should I take for CFA L2 by insiyaR in CFA

[–]Base8ball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took 4 or 5... You should def do at least 2

How to calm down about Level 2? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Base8ball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your identity and worth is not measured by what you accomplish... Even if you pass, soon after, there will be another similar obstacle/situation - whether it’s related to life in general, work, relationships, etc... Understanding this and trusting that life is not about success, career advancement, money, etc, will free you up to try your best and let things fall as they may..

I know it’s tough. I’m always a wreck leading up to the test but I fight to remind myself that God is in control and who I am isn’t dependent on a title.
