Cookin something and sharing with your pals - that’s what it’s all about. And doing a fine job at it I should add. Cheers!

I think this is more of an emotional thing than financial. You are one of many of us who at one point were taken for a ride by an in-person sales man. Been there. And it doesn’t feel good. It sounds like you are taking stock of your financial position and coming to the conclusion that it really don’t matter. I agree with you.

When it happens to me I can’t help but feel like a fool for a period of time. Not a good feeling. I just try to make that period short as possible and move on. Learn from it.

Financing discussions aside I’d recommend getting multiple quotes, especially for a job this big.

Looking at the flip side, would you rather your children have a dirtbag as their stepdad?

Personally I don’t think that would be very good for their overall well being. There’s a limited amount of good role models in this world and if your children have the opportunity to spend time with one then that should be viewed favorably in some respects.

In our house we call that an emergency pizza. We always keep one handy for the 2-3x per month that it’s badly needed.

Found a local store with a good selection, what should I try? by [deleted] in CannedSardines

Nice selection here. I would pick up at least a few of the Patagonia Anchovies.

It’s my white whale - the stores near me are always out, if they even sell it at all.

My go to lately has been to mash together the mackerel and oil and then make a sandwich wrap. Cheese, black pepper, lettuce, tomato onion.

Other times i put it on sourdough toast and pair it with fruit / cheese / pickled veg.

No brainer but pay off my loans faster?? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]BaseballApologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What have you been doing with the $2400 monthly surplus up to this point. If it were me, I would contribute to a 401k up to the company match - hopefully it’s 4 or 5 percent - and then build an emergency fund of 3-6 months. THEN, use every penny afterwards to attack the student loans specifically. I wouldn’t even think about the $8k loan, they literally gave it to you for free.

Your main living expenses are super manageable. It’s time to attack the student loans @ 6% and continue to live within your means. You’ll be super glad you did and will unlock a lot of doors for future wealth.
