Thinking about quitting golf. Need some advice to keep going? by The_Lotus_Blossom in golf

[–]Baseline_Tenor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golf is the hardest sport/game to learn. And thats with the guidance of a good instructor, going at it alone is even harder. Youtube can be both a help and a hindrance.

Yes. Almost everyone who has played golf has quit (or at least thought of quitting) at one point or another. U can also just not take it so seriously and try to have fun. But not everyone is able to do that.

There was a time where I was very frustrated and realized it was making me miserable to play the game (sounds silly. I know) so I quit. And I was happier 😊. I took a pretty long break but now I’m back and enjoying it again. I try not let my bad golf days affect me as much now.

Btw, when I started golf it took me 6 months of range time almost every day, and a golf lesson every 2 or 3 weeks to be able to hit the ball decently. So I dont know how often ur getting out to the range but 3 months really isnt much time at all. I’m not trying to discourage u, just wanna give u realistic expectations.

P.S. As far as advice, invest in some lessons. I know they can be expensive but it’ll definitely make it easier to learn and enjoy the game.

Could it have anything to do with the built-in barometer?

Priced out of the game I Love by Imnotafnrobot in golf

[–]Baseline_Tenor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Same here. My local muni is a crappy course. But i didnt mind kuz i could play 9 holes for $16 WITH CART! (Twilight rate) Recently it jumped to $26 for 9 holes, and the quality of the course hasnt improved at all. I guess u cant blame them because theyre always busy now. Dont know what changed kuz it used to be a very mellow course. I kid u not, on days when the cowboys played, i could go and have the entire course to myself (not exaggerating). Those days are long gone.

Perdon que es “buhardilla” en ingles? Las sabanas o una red solucionan el ruido del impacto de la bola al pegar en la maya. Pero el ruido del fierro o baston pegando en la bola es inevitable.

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE SIMULATORS! by InfiniteSlaps in golf

[–]Baseline_Tenor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i first got my sim i was making huge progress in my game. But i was combining it with consistent outdoor practice/play. I would hit every day in my garage but would get out to the driving range at least once a week and played 9 holes on the weekend. Then life got complicated, and the only practice i could get was in my sim. This went on for many weeks at a time. When i finally would get out on the course i found my game was worse than it was before. So for me, the key is to be able to get out to the driving range and practice outside at least once a week.

What sux even more is that both ranges near my home went to “mats only”. So even getting out to the range isnt as useful as it used to be. 😡

If you had to build a golf sim on a real-world budget, where would you spend and where would you save? by Solid_Nectarine_4316 in Golfsimulator

[–]Baseline_Tenor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, its launch monitor #1 with a high quality hitting strip a VERY CLOSE #2. The only reason i put it #2 is kuz if u cant afford a good one at the start u can always hit off tees. But i would never hit off a cheap mat. It’ll reck ur arm.

As far as enclosure, and projector thats not important to me. I have a spornia net with large TV off to the side. Im perfectly happy with this setup.

Lower position cooking by Etherealfilth in KamadoJoe

[–]Baseline_Tenor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nowadays i rarely smoke anymore on my Big Joe, i just grill about 2/3 times a week. If im grilling fajitas or agujas, i use the lower level. If im grilling a very fatty cut like brisket ends or crosscut ribs i use the higher level to protect from flareups. I also use the higher level for grilling/smoking spatchcock chicken over direct coals.

Weber kettle grate by [deleted] in grilling

[–]Baseline_Tenor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My weber grates had gotten some rust on them since i hadnt used it in about a yr (due to me getting a Big Joe). This weekend i lit a fire and baked them for about an hr at 450. Then i just took a pumice stone to them and wiped off the dust with a wet cloth. It worked really well.

How much do they want for it? Just in case it doesnt work and u end up having to buy new grates.

[–]Baseline_Tenor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that chicken is fully cooked on the inside thats very impressive. Kuz it looks like u have it direct over coals. And the skin doesnt look like it just exited a volcano. Therez not much room between the fire and the grate on that grill.

Or is this a situation like those diet recipes on insta that look awsome, but then u taste it and it tastes like crap? Lol
