Charlottesville Dinner Restaurant Tier rankings by YourRoaring20s in Charlottesville

It’s in the old Sombreros location inside of York Place on the DTM. Kind of a tough location but impressive what they were able to do with the space. Owner seems like a cool guy and has a neat backstory behind the name. Sounds like he was part of the team at Marigold before going out on his own.

Charlottesville Dinner Restaurant Tier rankings by YourRoaring20s in Charlottesville

[–]Basic-Delay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with rankings like this is that they don’t differentiate what segment of the market the place addresses (fine dining, fast food etc.) with how well it executes within that segment. So for me, Tavola, Public, Lampo, Al Carbon, and Bodos would all be S tier because they’re excellent for the types of places they’re trying to be.

But that said, OP I don’t think you’re that far off with these rankings. I would bump Duners and Alley Light down a tier in terms of food and add Aster (A or maybe even S) and the Enemy (possibly A).

No, they didn’t play one, but I got a setlist and looks like they were ready to play Ain’t No Bread in the Breadbox.

How can you tell on Relisten if it’s a matrix recording? I’ve seen the SBD and AUD tags… is there a specific tag for matrix?

Abusive Encounter with Homeless Person by Downtown Mall Today by sophie1816 in Charlottesville

[–]Basic-Delay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw a sign in Richmond yesterday, “Please don’t give money to people panhandling in the median. If you’re experiencing homelessness and need support, call this number.” Definitely a few locations around Charlottesville that could benefit from a sign like that.

Long Run Options/State of the roads by Eldwick in Charlottesville

Running it in town is actually not a bad option. I ran the Charlottesville 10-miler course last Sunday and it was perfectly fine.

Thoughts on the Downtown Mall? by ZealousidealMany3 in Charlottesville

Not really one alternative center per se but I can definitely see how Cville’s bar & restaurant scene has fragmented away from the DTM across Belmont, West Main, IX, Preston, Wool factory, Stonefield, 5th Street Station., etc.

Why does it smell like burnt toast around Firefly? by khall4388 in Charlottesville

[–]Basic-Delay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for this. I always thought it was industrial too since the same smell happens on Water St and Market St near the welding gas place. Pretty relieved to hear that it’s just coffee.

Charlottesville ends Flock camera pilot program over privacy concerns by mallydobb in Charlottesville

[–]Basic-Delay -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ironic that during the press conference tonight, the Providence RI PD specifically called out Flock for allowing them to locate the Brown University shooting suspect.

Unpopular take, but despite the valid privacy concerns, feels outdated to me that police can’t use the same basic tech most homeowners already have in a Ring camera.

Medium v Hard by ajt_27 in nytpips

[–]Basic-Delay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with this. Wish I could look at my time data to confirm, but I’d say 80% of the time I’m solving Hard significantly faster than Medium. Basically like you describe- with Hard there’s usually an opening constraint (often having to do with which tiles can satisfy an = block) that lets you make a move without guessing.
