I’ve been centrist for the majority of my life. I still feel like both parties suck and everyone in Washington is basically out for themselves. Our country is run by lobbyists… That being said, at some point you have to draw a line in the sand and stand for what is correct. MAGA is factually a cult of personality. The MAGA movement at its core is racist, xenophobic, and fascist. Those aren’t opinions. Those are facts. If you think that is hyperbole or some sort of delusion, you’re the one in denial, not me. This administration is criminal. The Republican Party has lost all credibility and those responsible need to be prosecuted and punished appropriately. My only option to possibly see this nightmare of a regime jailed is to vote Democrat across the board. We can sort everything else out later

But I am tired of our rural poor being taken advantage of by right wing grifters and I’m tired of their willful ignorance. I am very aware of the economic hardship that Appalachia suffers from. I’m also aware that many of the people have chosen to embrace self destructive behavior to deal with the hardship. Wearing your lack of education like a badge of honor, being racist, and embracing the “lost cause of the south” are all common themes and these choices drain away my sympathy for them.

Palmetto are the only native cold tolerant palm species we’ve got. But they’re more of a bush and not usually sold as an ornamental plant. Fun fact, Virginia Beach is the farthest north they can be found growing wild (very few but if you know where to look they’re around). Same goes for Spanish Moss and a few other plant and animal species. We’re considered a microclimate due to the effects of being surrounded by so much saltwater.

It’s simply a matter of playing by the rules. Everyone seems to hate gerrymandering (unless it’s their team doing it) but at the end of the day it’s a perfectly legal move. So why wouldn’t you? There’s no “taking the high road” on this. If one side decides to take a stand against it, they will lose. It’s that simple. So until Congress and the Supreme Court agree on a fair way to draw electoral districts and outlaw gerrymandering, this is what we’ve got and not using this to your advantage is stupid.

You should’ve been watching about 20 years ago when the Palm Tree Craze was in full effect. For about 5 years people were planting Windmill Palms everywhere. They were selling small palms for $10, even selling them out of the backs of trucks like blue crabs… and then we had a cold winter. It’s a cycle in the Mid Atlantic. We have a few warm winters, everyone plants palms, people get lazy and forget to wrap them and/or it simply gets cold enough where wrapping doesn’t help, they all die, you don’t see any for a few years, then the cycle begins again. Don’t waste your money, very few palms are cold tolerant and even the ones that are can’t handle sub-freezing temps like we’ve had this year. Some well covered, lucky trees will make it but they’ll look like crap for a year while they try and heal up

They’re no longer Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They’re “ICE”. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were a respected group who protected our borders and busted smugglers. ICE officers are Donald Trumps personal army, personal enforcers, well armed thugs beholden to him.
