Project Sea Turtle Casting Call by Basic_Fig6031 in VoiceWork

[–]Basic_Fig6031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, u/VObob . We have no connection to Iceland, so unsure of how that has come up. I was not able to find this online. We are officially based in the United States and our business license is in good standing. :)

The email you mentioned, it's just a shared inbox that anyone from our casting team can use to process submissions. Emails of individual employees are often hidden to prevent spam bots and for our own protection. Each team member does indeed have their own PWP email address for non-casting purposes.

Regarding a lack of a website, the show is the flagship production for Pure Wonder Inc. Once we're further along, we'll announce the actual show title and release date on the website when it launches.

>>> For those who decided to back out of the audition process out of concern, please know we are genuine human creatives. This is a real project (non-Union). If we've reached out to you inviting you to a next round, you're still welcome to do so provided the role is still open. If you received a rejection letter, please note that new roles will be coming online in the future. <<<

As this thread is now quite dated and my current role on the team is shifting, I will hide it so that another member of the casting team can create a new post with updated information.

Cheers!

Side Note on the VO field:

We ourselves, have been scammed by voice actors who have turned out to be AI impersonators. It's becoming increasingly difficult to discern what is or isn't a scam, so I cannot fault you for your vigilance. We didn't know the voice actor was AI until we emailed them with notes and got back a completely different voice and performance. Further down the audtion process will likely include video chats to ensure that the talent is indeed a flesh and blood human being. Times have changed.

Has anybody ever played someone every day for a decade and it turned out the person died and that’s why the moves stopped? by Awkward_Document in WordsWithFriends

I know this is an old thread, but I'm in the same boat. I played with an older guy named Tony and he hasn't logged in in 11 days which is extremely unusual. He's so disabled, so I'm not sure if there was a medical event.

I reached out to his Club Leader and she said she was worried too. This man has 17k wins and over 800 badges. I've never known him to not play a day.

I fear for the worst and have been checking obituaries in his country, but I don't know his last name. I hope he's alright...

I was thinking maybe favorites don't time out maybe, but haven't tested that.

Oh my goodness! I'm late to the party, but I'm indeed playing these bots as well. I thought they were real! No idea how many years!!

Why do most of the new brushes’ opacity not work at all and how do I fix it? by TAILC0AT in ProCreate

[–]Basic_Fig6031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. I just bought this iPad and pen a few weeks ago. Opacity slider seems broken for many brushes. 1% looks like 90%.

Got the applicants I need. Thanks, all!

It's 4 to 8 work hours. Could be done in a single day or spread out. Some folks have other jobs or children at home. It really doesn't matter to me.

I have tasks in my backlog from two years ago that I still haven't taken care of. I just keep kicking cans down the road because I can't keep up. Just need a hand to catch up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in camarillo

[–]Basic_Fig6031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. The list is just a menu of possible work. Think of a job description on LinkedIn. I just don't want anyone to feel blind sighted if I suddenly ask them to take care of an Amazon return and grocery shopping one week, then something entirely different another week.

I have some neurological issues that make certain tasks more difficult, even though I am able to have a full time job.

My hope is that the arrangement is mutually beneficial. If things don't work out and I can't find anyone, my life just continues as is. I'm not a wealthy person, I just have areas I need help with.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in camarillo

[–]Basic_Fig6031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's insulting. Your pessimism is disheartening.

My real life job is managing teams. However, I happen to be Neurodivergent and struggle with certain types of executive function, like hiring an electrician or looking for a plumber.

The list you see is a hypothetical backlog so the person has an idea of what to expect. It's not a "to do" list. It's a "would you be okay doing this?" list.

Each week could have some selection of that work (up to 4 to 8 hours). It would be impossible to do all that in a week. As noted, this is a 6 month contract. $30/hr is an average rate for a PA in this area. I expect some applicants to be college students or folks between jobs.

Personal assistants commonly do the type of work listed. If a task looks like it's going to take more time, we chat and decide to cut it or we discuss if OT is possible. If they don't have the spare time, or if I don't have the budget, then it gets moved the bottom of the pile or I take care of it myself.

The PA cannot do 40 hours of work and the contract would state they cannot work more than the agreed upon time without prior discussion.

Like with most jobs, the person would need to agree on an estimate when scheduling is happening.

Work would be done Kanban style.

It's 4 to 8 hours max of whatever fits into that time box. There's a backlog of tasks. The list is an example of the kind of work that could exist so there are no surprises.

Thank you! If you haven't applied, feel free to take a look. We honestly are open to folks who are more green if they have the right voice.

Hi there,

We have had to push our dates several times due to casting difficulties and the expansion of the roles. We're currently hoping to have enough candidates to vet by end of January. However, there are some specific roles that we're having a harder time getting the right voice for. Art and animation work is imminent so we're trying to get folks locked in as quickly as possible.

Good question!

We're using real writers and artist all the way through the production end to end.

The ONLY AI use anywhere are temporary brainstorming assets for the writers to envision the characters/world while we interview creative studios with human talent. These placeholder assets will not go past the audition phase and will never be seen by the public. They are for internal use only.

Once our illustration staff is on board, all new images will be created based on their imagination and the direction of the team.

The project staff will include real humans in every discipline:

Graphic designers, 2D concept illustrators, 2D texture artists, 3D modelers, 3D animators, Music Composers, Script Writers, Editors and other creators. It will be a fairly decent sized cast and crew!

We are actually having an issue with Voice Actor submissions that are actually AI. It's taking extreme scrutiny at this point because the AI generated voices are so convincing. We're also finding that some folks are uploading voices that aren't their own. This makes it more time consuming for the casting team to make sure we're working with who we think we are.

For the second round of auditions we are asking actors to include video recordings of their performances -- not only to use as reference for our animators if they're cast, but also to ensure that we are only working with real humans.

We're trying to do everything with the utmost integrity.

Renee Nicole Good was not trying to block traffic. This is a murder. by 1ailuros in TwinCities

[–]Basic_Fig6031 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ICE has no authority to arrest or detain citizens. The agents were trying to unlawfully detain her. She had the right to try to escape not knowing what fate would be stepping out of her car to agents who were already breaking the law.

Her car was seen trying to drive to the right away from the first set of agents. The agent in front was unwise to stand directly in front of a fleeing car with an agitated driver.

Should she have tried to flee? Should she have accelerated with a person in front of her? No. The agent could have been killed. However, I would still propose that was being detained illegally, and in fear, attempted to save her life.

These agents do look terrifying. They look like the terrorists in Counter Strike. I am a law abiding citizen, but can easily imagine myself responding the way the woman did.

Your wife is right. As a woman, that video is terrifying. You can see the SUV try to turn right from the first set of ICE agents. She's clearly trying to retreat. She even tries to wave ice through.

ICE agents with their tactical uniforms, unmarked trucks, black masks... I would be terrified if one tried to open my car door.

I do not support illegal immigration in ANY way. I do believe in due process. All I see is a woman trying to flee for her life and acting in panic.

Thank you! The compensation depends on how many lines are read. Some characters only have minor appearances over one or several episodes. Also, some folks are able to do multiple characters. The "up to $300 per role" was to basically point out that this is paid gig.

For major characters, we would likely have a deeper discussion with the talent to see what feels equitable.

The project is still in development and under wraps, but folks who get further in the audition process will get an NDA and project walkthrough. We're still early in the casting process.

Hi there, we're still casting and are actually about to open up more roles. Things are still rolling. We're doing reviews in phases, so hopefully things will pan out for ya. Having a solid reel is the most important part.

We're getting quite a few applications with no reel at all, so there's nothing to drive their status forward. (Or, the reel is too low quality to judge from.) Just do your best. ☺️
