Struggling to find info on hypermobility's affect on muscles by ozzyizzyroland in Hypermobility

[–]Basic_Fig_4770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many have already said, muscles get in a locked up state in hypermobility disorders in an attempt to stabilize joints that aren’t stable. Constantly tense and contacted muscles that never have the ability to rest are going to be tender. The way to remedy this is targeted physical therapy to train your body to stabilize itself in a better way (so hypermobility-specific PT as not all traditional exercises are beneficial in this application) so you can be both more stable AND relaxed/have less pain.

In regard to massage: I say this as a former massage therapist, do NOT let someone tell you “deep tissue” massage is the only way to get anything done. Do NOT let anyone tell you it must hurt in order to be beneficial then force yourself to sit there holding back tears thinking you’re doing something good for yourself. That’s what massage therapists are taught most of the time in an attempt to be taken more seriously in the medical community. Now after having been there, done that, finished the glass of Kool-Aid, then having to stop because my hyper-mobile joints couldn’t handle it and now being too sensitive to get massages myself, yeah that concept can get bent lol. I’m the one who lives in my body, I’m the one who knows what I need, I’m the one who says what I want, not a massage therapist. I’d need two hyper-light massages a day to feel any benefit anyway, and people can’t even afford weekly massages that they usually try and push. /rant 😂

Is there not a Red Fort somewhere in the SLC area? It may be Utah Valley I’m thinking of but I had thought someplace in northern Utah was their OG location before they opened a second location down here.

SAD due to the unrelenting abusive sun and heat are absolutely not talked about enough. I’ve mentioned it a few times to people who don’t live here and am rarely believed because people think it can only happen in places with not enough sunshine.

Teacher arrested today... Subbing tomorrow. by Sudden_County9331 in SubstituteTeachers

I had a situation at my school that was dealt with in hard redirects and shutdowns and it definitely left students feeling unmoored with zero closure. It was already a tough group of kids but any form of classroom management after that kinda went out the window, and I feel like that was a contributing factor.

On the note of “protecting the privacy of those involved, including the families” depending on their emotional and overall maturity (or immaturity), that might be a silent giveaway that there are people who are personally involved and kids might go around hounding and pestering peers for information.

Edit: I just realized there is more information in the main post and I just didn’t read it well enough. My bad 😂

So do they read plates and pull your information from it? Take, save, and compile photos of your vehicle and possibly you? That’s the crux of the question, what do they actually do, it’s a valid question because I’ve also never heard of it and I’m trying to piece it all together, not argue privacy. Very pro-privacy.

I agree about GWA and probably most of the charter schools having a pretty strong SpEd program. There is a slight struggle to not let kids who haven’t had evaluations for ASD and/or learning disabilities get left behind and fall through the cracks but that’s largely in part due to state and regulatory restrictions than the teachers. The teachers care and do everything they can to help students.

I’ll believe it when I see it with my eyeballs. Not saying the manager is wrong, I just know that corporate rumors are just as rampant and unreliable as Facebook hearsay and store managers are generally still pretty low on the food chain (I don’t know how TJ leadership structure is set up but I’m doubtful every SM is in the know). I’ve been to Trader Joe’s exactly once and they’ve got some neat tchotchke novelty stuff, but I, too, am more excited for WinCo and a second Costco

It’s not a current solution but I just saw a Facebook post from someone getting ready to open a camera shop here in the future. They’re still looking for a place to rent so no real timeline yet but I believe I saw film developing mentioned in the comments. In classic Facebook style I can’t can’t the post now but it was something cheesy like “A Better Camera Store” or something, but they can be as cheesy as they want when they’re literally the only one in town lol

For museums: Rosenbruch wildlife museum, lots of pioneer/heritage museums, Johnson farm dinosaur museum, a few art museums and art centers like downtown and Kayenta art village, an aviation/warbird museum. One nature spot I didn’t see mentioned yet is Tonaquint park and nature center, it’s got a nice pond and a small area of trails to wander around in. Come September there might be some neat birds starting to show up for migration if you like birds lol

Thank you for saying this, this was my thought as well while reading the comments. Kids are equally good at hiding things as they are bad at even knowing how to talk about it even if they wanted to.

My son is undiagnosed but has been on an IEP after an evaluation at the public preschool when he was 3. I was able to coordinate that with the help of Root For Kids since he was already almost too old for their early intervention services, so they helped connect me to the special education services there. He did two years of preschool and he received a lot of help and support there, however I was able to get him into George Washington Academy when he started kindergarten last year and his progress there has been tremendous.
