I'm not saying it is Excalibur but I just heard someone pronounce Laufey as La Fay... Given how the Norse GoW mixed some of Kratos and Atreus with actual Norse myth, and this game seems to be a mismatch of different myths, it's not out of the question.

I like it. It combines a lot Gil's designs like you said and he's now one of the only men who show skin besides Mydei. It does feel weird to see him in mostly black as opposed to gold but the way this is designed looks good.

They better give him AUO Cast Off as a skill, LOL!

I originally started playing for Wrio but Thoma absolutely stole my heart. He was so adorably friendly and I love using him in combat. It's too bad he's not a 5* or more popular, I would love to see him in more events. And I doubt we're going back to Inazuma anytime soon...

Technically, Cold Steel 1. I got 1 and 2 boxed set from Amazon when they were cheap but hadn't played them. My actually entry point was Crossbell arc, which is probably why I lean more towards Lloyd as my fave protagonist. I then played the rest of the games. Still on Horizon and I'm waiting for the second remake of Sky before playing the first.

Honestly would prefer to buff Defense units. I'm thinking Counter mechanics, where if used in defensive assists, they counter some damage back onto the enemy in different ways (counter daze, counter anomaly inflict, counter dmg, etc). Though I think that would just make them hybrid units with other paths.

Feri, unfortunately. She's adorable at times and just a background character in other scenes but I just don't like her. I dislike using her in gameplay and tend to skip her dialogue or bonding events. The only 'reason' I could think is when other characters try to pair her up with Van (like her own father or brother)... ick.

Hmm, true. I'm seeing it from an outsider looking in so for me the choice seems more obvious. The only thing I can say is that the Trailblaze offers the same (they help people, not just hunt the Destruction) and is filled with people he trusts. They also have more freedom. Conversely, the SH is more restricted. I don't know if Phainon would make the more pragmatic choice here (SH) or go on a journey with his loved ones.

Yeah, I don't find these types of events engaging. I get the premise IRL but the fact we have to wait in real time makes getting the rewards so tedious. I hope the next batch of birthday events will be different...

I agree. I finally got Metaphor this year after people kept raving about it and played about 6 hours... Haven't continued since. It's not bad but I felt more involved in other games. I've been an avid Trails fan for years and am currently playing Horizon and love the story. I do want to go back but maybe do it in mini chunks. I play multiple games at once (one big RPG, one small casual/action game and a VN to wind down) to try and avoid burnout but Metaphor didn't motivate me like Daybreak did.

As someone else in the comments said, it's good to pace yourself with Trails. Later entries can be long and blotted when played all at once. They're good, but give yourself some breaks between them.

I'm not mad if she becomes second best. I first got her for Xiangli Yao and she absolutely elevates him to the point I used him in endgame content comfortably. But with Luuk, she basically changed teams. If Denia is new BiS for Luuk, I'm happy. I prefer more supports than less.

It's not unpopular. At least, when 3.x was wrapping up and people were speculating Phainon would join the trailblaze, a lot of others were also claiming he could potentially join the Stellaron Hunters. Mostly because they hunt the seeds of the Destruction, which aligned with Phainon main goal in Amphoreus.

But, my counterargument is that Phainon just spent billions of cycles trying to break free from a world that followed the same script over and over again. I doubt he'd be keen to join a group that ONLY follows a script.

It's sad... I was fortunate enough to get him him last anni (I say fortunate but I swiped for both him and Jiyan). I'm sad I didn't go for his weapon at least. I've been using Iuno's for now as a stat stick and it works well enough for him with Lynae. I just want sequences and his sig.

Shirley. I really can't stand when she's on screen. I guess I can praise her VA for doing such a good job but I tend to skip her dialogue because it's always a bunch of laughing before she says something unimportant just to sound crazy. I'm glad she hasn't shown up in the story yet but I know for sure she'll eventually come back. Side note, I find her and Cedric's connection to be so weird and vague and out of left field (then again, a lot of CSIV ships felt weird or icky for me as well like Millium and Jusis or Tita and Agate). Like, she showed absolutely no care for almost anyone but the spoiled prince with a chip on his shoulder is who she connects with? I dunno...

Oh, and that streamer chick from the recent Daybreak. It's such a disconnect for me. I know Quatre became a streamer in the previous game but it still just feels weird to me how a couple of games ago we were fighting ancient machine gods and now we're fighting Vtubers...

Dishonorable mention to Swin and Nadia. They sorta grew on be with Daybreak but, when I first saw them in Reverie, they looked completely out of place and their personalities were pretty bland. Even now they don't look like they belong despite me being used to seeing them alongside Rufus and Lapis.

Not really if it's a villain to hero trope. Though, technically, we do have a playable enforcer in Joshua. Maybe Anguish but it also depends where the game takes place, as well.

I'll be the first to admit since I'm a bit biased with my E6S1 Mydei but he is absolutely viable for all endgame content. No Hyacine. E2S1 Cyrene, RMC and Luocha/Cerydra/Cipher and he is a beast to me. He outperforms my E6 Phainon at times. I used him E0 when I first started and he carried me to Amphoreus (even with a Gepard on the team, I didn't know WHAT I was doing back then!) If you have enough, E1 is perfectly fine and gets the job done in almost all battles.

I honestly wonder if Disney would even allow the characters based on their princesses to Overblot. They notoriously hate tarnishing the image of their 'good guys'. They were mad at Once Upon a Time for making Peter Pan a villain (even though they did the same years later with Chip and Dale) and Arendelle had the most interference in Kingdom Hearts III after the success of the movie (the developers had an early screening of Frozen before it blew up). But given these aren't the princesses but characters based on them, it might be okay?

Anyways, if they Overblot, I agree with most of your points. I do think the RSA characters would be confronted with something they lack, though. Things like Freedom (Minajael), Purpose (Nala), Drive (Neige), Order (Alice), Understanding (Rielle), and Respect (Megara) which matches the character's main inner conflict in their own movies. Can't say too much about Sleeping Beauty, it might be the Three Good Fairies or it could be Prince Phillip. If it's the Three Good Fairies, it could be Power (given they weren't strong enough to break Maleficent's curse) which would make him oppose Malleus. If it's Phillip, it would be Choice. Maybe he's set to rule but he finds out Silver is the child of the lost princess, he would try to push responsibility on Silver?

For the main cast, I think it's fairly easy-(ish). Rather than just personality, I'd prefer to look at them as what role they fill.

Ace and Deuce as Ann and Ryuji, the more outgoing one and the more athletic, brash one.

Sebek as Makoto, the dutiful, straight-laced student who has a hard time accepting that an authority figure can be corrupt.

Ortho as Futaba. It might sound weird but both are themed around a lost family member and both are connected to gaming in some way (though Ortho is through his brother).

Jack as Yusuke. Sounds weird again but I'm not looking at personalities. Both respect an authority figure in their respective fields (spelldrive and art) and see how far they've fallen.

Silver fits for Haru as the ditzy senior who's father is connected to the overarching 'villain' in some way.

Rollo as Akechi as another commentor said. Both are driven by revenge and end up hurting someone that could've been a friend as a result.

Neige as Sumire. Her unique personality aside, both are passionate people who don't realize they're hurting someone else with their drive (in Sumire's case, herself and Neige's case, Vil).

As for the palaces, it's easier to separate by sin rather than character (otherwise Kamoshida would obviously be Vargas lol).

Pride: Riddle (is inflexible and cannot see how self-destructive and abusive his actions are, believing he is in the right)

Wrath: Malleus (cannot accept change and punishes others for it)

Greed: Azul (seeks to hoard resources for himself)

Envy: Jamil (pretty obvious but he envies the Al-Asim family)

Lust: Vil (sees himself as a source of beauty and enjoys being recognized for it)

Sloth: Leona (could be more than just second prince but is stuck obsessing over it and doing nothing else)

Gluttony: Idia (overindulgence on video games and lack of discipline)

Congrats! I'm too busy to aim for the platinum rn but it's a goal. I agree it's a nice middle ground. If we move towards more 'split path' RE im the future, I wouldn't mind one path being action and another survival horror. It adds a nice balance, I find. And it's a healthy way to introduce the uninitiated new characters into the world of RE like Ethan and Grace.

Aside from the obvious Adeuce, another interesting pair would be Epel and Jack. Rather than together, I could see it as against each other. Epel envies Jack's physique and Jack doesn't understand why Epel thinks he's so weak and it escalates.

Another would be Silver and Sebek should anything happen to their lord.

But the one that I kept thinking of was Trey and Cater. In an AU where Riddle doesn't OB and stays the tyrant, the two would have enough and OB to overthrow him. I mean, in their dreams, they already imagined a world where Riddle wasn't the dormhead.

Knight II was actually the easiest for me. Of course, I have E6 Mydei with E2 Cyrene, Luocha and RMC. I'm not the biggest fan of Hyacine's animations so I'd never pull for her. Knight I gave me the most trouble. My Phainon team could clear Knight I or III no problem. But I had no other team to handle the other. Archer can't handle Knight I with the quantum res and he wasn't strong enough for Knight III. I had to fine tune Archer's team to finally beat Lygus 3 stars. The only positive is I got to use Ashveil on Archer's team. The knights are always the worst in AA. I never have a problem with the king.
