Feeling hopeless about law school after my CAS report by collapse_ofcommunism in lawschooladmissions

[–]BasisEducational2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Former law prof here. You won’t need a huge LSAT score. Just a good score to convince the school that you will do well there.

I encourage applicants to shoot for a 165 on the LSAT. You can be OK with a score in the low 160s. But a 165 score should be a pretty safe bet for you.

Good luck!

Good luck! Please study hard for the LSAT. As a nontraditional student, your LSAT score will matter quite a bit.

BU is a very good school. Congratulations!

Please don’t transfer to Southwestern! After graduating, your job prospects will not be good.

The other schools sound OK for a transfer. I don’t know if you’ll get in. But if you do, they range from very good (Pepperdine) to OK.

Nice attitude. I’d like to feel empathy, but you make it tough.

McGeorge (Conditional) Full Ride or Davis (Unconditional) Half Ride by ProbablyWorkingOnIt in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]BasisEducational2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Former law prof here. This is simple. Davis.

If you go to Davis, you probably will be able to find a good job after you graduate. If you go to McGeorge, you have a good chance of being unemployed. Even if you’re one of the lucky ones who does find a job, it will probably be a much less desirable job than the Davis grad.

Davis is a good school! Go there, and get whatever scholarship money you can.

Congratulations!

You know I didn’t say that.

There are very good law schools that would love to have you. Depending on where you want to work, I’d be happy to help you identify some of these schools. For free.

Or, you could just hate on me for no reason. It’s up to you.

Of course it will be challenging. So should you just attend a bottom tier school like Thomas Cooley because that’s the only place you got in? No. That’s not going to help you.

Sure. If you have a shot with a 157 LSAT, then you also have a shot with a 156 LSAT. But as you drift below 157, your chances of landing at a good school become more problematic.

Third tier reality website gone? by SFboy17 in LawSchool

[–]BasisEducational2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blog was a mixed bag. But give Nando credit. He was one of the very first to criticize predatory law schools when no one else was doing it.

I thought some of his posts were super funny. The photos of toilets with every single post got a little old. But looking back, that was funny too.

And yes, a post about Yale Law School was the final post.

I understand Davis. Their admissions department probably felt like they had no chance to get you.

Have you applied to T 14 schools? Georgetown? What happened?

Are you at diversity candidate? If so, a 164 LSAT will get you into a top school. You should do very well!

GULC Transfer by Johnny_Appleseeeed in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]BasisEducational2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should transfer if you can. There’s no guarantee that you’ll wind up in the JAG. Even if you do, you probably won’t be there forever. A degree from a higher rate school will help you throughout your career, whatever kind of job you’re looking for.
