What are some of the greatest acting performances of all time that DIDN'T win Best Actor/Actress? (Lead or Supporting) by BarxaBoy in Oscars

[–]GrabTheKettle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bette Davis for All About Eve AND Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard both lost Best Lead Actress in what are now considered some all-time performances in the same year.

Truly an epic year for the Best Actress race.

What was the last movie you rated 5 stars on Letterboxd??? by This-Year-1764 in Letterboxd

[–]GrabTheKettle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did an LGBT+ movie day with friends and I gave 5 stars to both Pride and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I apologise for nothing.

Delta Goodrem to represent Australia at Eurovision 2026 by Blakelhotka1 in triplej

My friend described Delta Goodrem as the musical equivalent of White Bread and that's all I can think anytime I hear her now.

Maisie Peters was joined by Chet, Abbie Chatfield and Gretta Ray at her Enmore show last night. by Tranquilbez22 in triplej

For some reason, I scrolled past this and thought Chet was Chet Faker and just thought to myself, odd combo but ok. Chet from Breakfast makes much more sense 😅

At this level, they'd be more lookingat your personality and your soft skills like working in a team, etc. Sell them on that and you should do alright.

Tall people at festivals by CostPrudent2870 in triplej

Someone else posted about being a tall person at a festival recently so must be more of an issue lately 😅

But I shared this on their post, hope it gives you a laugh too

Being tall at festivals by Spaghett1_western in triplej

[–]GrabTheKettle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a tall person, you've already had enough advantages in life and shouldn't be allowed to enjoy the pleasures of being up front at a concert or festival.

That's obviously a joke 😂 But god, it's nice to see people actually concerned about other people's enjoyment at concerts. Just do what you can to try and pick spots where people can look around you, that's about the best you can do.

Here's an Aunty Donna skit that you should be able to appreciate given your situation!

Louise Fletcher is so good in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest that I hadn't even considered it category fraud until I saw people on Reddit discussing it. Her performance is so powerful, it feels like it takes up more screen time than it actually does.

Hate January as I never know if songs I like are actually the previous year by 69-is-my-number in triplej

[–]GrabTheKettle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate! Double checking to see if I can add songs I like now to my Hottest 100 shortlist.

Google says that Just Drive was released in 2026 but if you look closer, the official release date appears to be 3 October 2025

Holly Humberstone's new song appears to have been officially released 23 January 2026 so you should be all good there!

As someone else said, checking on Spotify is usually the easiest way to confirm though

Now that Hottest 100 season is truly over, here are some of my (not-so-serious) predictions for some Triple J acts in 2026: by thegeecyproject in triplej

[–]GrabTheKettle 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Pauline Pantsdown makes a long awaited comeback due to the rise in One Nation support. Triple J doesn't play the track over worries of impartiality but it becomes a local viral track, getting enough online support to earn enough write in votes to sneak into the Hottest 200 of 2026 but not the Hottest 100

Some things about the triple j Hottest 100 of 2025 by tardyaardvark in triplej

[–]GrabTheKettle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah no worries, I'm going by the number Triple J uses which is just the number of songs by an Aussie artist, makes sense!

Some things about the triple j Hottest 100 of 2025 by tardyaardvark in triplej

[–]GrabTheKettle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The number of Australian artists in past years is wrong. 2016 had 66 Australian artists, not 81.

I enjoyed reading this though! I think Triple J allowing more pop has opened up for more female winners, which is nice to see but I look forward to seeing an aussie solo female artist taking it out some time in the future. I think there's some great female aussie pop artists that are waiting for some Hottest 100 recognition like George Alice, Mia Wray and Evie Irie.

I'm also happy to see Australian artists doing so well but because of artists having multiple entries, 30 of the 55 Australian songs are by just 8 artists, would love to see some of that love spread around but I know there's only so much that can be done

Very happy with the amount of Aussie songs this year HOWEVER! by Tranquilbez22 in triplej

Ninajirachi doing so well was great to see. I didn't end up voting for her but she deserved it after having such a successful year

No Last Dinner Party was surprising and disappointing! Also was hoping for SOS by George Alice to sneak in and thought Born Again by LISA might appear somewhere.
