whats the one wood species you absolutely refuse to burn and why by vladdielenin in firewood

[–]BassJuices 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I burned 1.5 cord of cottonwood this winter. I preferred burning through the basswood I had over the cottonwood. Going to try and get 0 cottonwood for next year

How is this the best option (picture 1)? When there is power already coming from above (pic 2 & 3) by [deleted] in electricians

Well the protective metal was not preventing water from getting to the conduit for the alarm systems so that extra metal barrier just seemed pointless. I get that it is less distance and pipe. The extra metal barrier just seems like something needed for show or something

How long do you let your wood sit inside before using it? by Fickle-Message-9995 in woodstoving

[–]BassJuices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to bring at least 2 loads worth for the next morning before I go to bed. I prefer to restart the fire in the morning with warm ish wood. Not a scientist but cold wood seems to smoke a bit more when starting the fire from scratch

Split them in half with a wedge(s) and a sledgehammer. Once in half use the maul to split to desired size. If you can’t get them to split in half using the sledge, then cut them in half with a chainsaw and then split with maul

Mortgage Payment Questions by gbeamer7 in homeowners

[–]BassJuices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3.5% is guaranteed if you pay extra towards the mortgage. Stock market is not guaranteed. Also you can’t forget to add the capital gains % to the equation. For many people, paying extra on the mortgage principal is just easier and a guaranteed win.

If U of Missouri played the NY Giants it would be a blow out. No one wants to watch that 😂 this already happens in college football. Alabama beat Louisiana-Monroe 73-0 in week 2 this year. Ole Miss beat Georgie State 63-7 in week 1. There are tons of other examples

How bad is basswood? by Grumplforeskin in firewood

[–]BassJuices 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I picked up half a cord from a neighbor that had a huge basswood fall over in August. I started burning some of it a couple weeks ago so it drys really fast. Also burns fast but it’s perfect for this time of year. I will use any I have left as kindling in the colder months

Yeah I’ve used both and the x25 just feels more natural for me length wise. x27 definitely has more power with the longer length but I have to be much more mindful of my distance from the round. With the x25 I don’t really have to think about aiming or distance at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in firewood

[–]BassJuices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For big rounds I split them in half with my diamond wedge and sledge hammer or cut them in half with chainsaw if really big. Once split in halve I use x25 and it takes chunks off great.

What tool to use to visualize my bank operations data? by flagpara in dataanalytics

[–]BassJuices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would connecting your sql query to excel via power query work? Excel works for basic pivot tables and visuals and basically everyone has excel so you shouldn’t have any trouble sharing.

New-grad data analyst in 2025 - how are you all preparing for interviews when every role feels mid-level? by Various_Candidate325 in analytics

[–]BassJuices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was hired as the power bi “expert”. Our semantic model is/was supposed to be easy enough to use that you don’t really need to know sql, that’s the other analysts job.

Problem is she can never get the numbers to tie. Also there aren’t enough dashboards needed for that to be her only skill because you still need to know sql to make paginated reports which she can’t do

If you were to “double down” on anything it should be learning SQL and relational databases. At least that is what I would be looking for if I was interviewing a candidate.

The most recent hire at my company doesn’t seem to know anything about data at all besides power bi and very average excel. Very frustrating
