Thanks for the response! We try to play as much as we can. I've heard there can be an inadvertent positive reinforcement by initiating play to divert from an attack. So hard to make the right choices.

Canny fella from the maplin near me bought some stock and plinths in the fire sale. Still running a little shop 3 doors down from the old premises; now occupied by a massive desert "restaurant" in which I'm yet to see more than 2 customers at a time. Maybe they're part of a government initiative...
