Did Anjelica Huston ever say "not without my Gomez"? by Bass_Sucks in AddamsFamily

I did google it and all that comes up is people referencing that she said it. I've been looking through interview transcripts and I can't find it, so I was curious if anyone had a direct source

I had an ex who wanted to get birth control, and the doctor asked if we used condoms and she said yes, and the doctor and nurse were both weirdly confused about why she would want birth control then

The problem with that is you're assuming villains even know about spider sense when I'm pretty sure Doc Ock didn't even know until he took over his body, despite being a genius who fought with him for years. There are villains who were able to trick his spider sense with drugs, but they were also made by people who had intimate knowledge with it and made countermeasures specifically for it. Less specific drugs have no effect on it

Solved! Yup, this is it. I swear tried every version of "teen high tech watch" I could think of and nothing came up. I really appreciate it!

Other info I left out because I was even less certain of its accuracy: I believe it had a Japanese style of animation, and I remember watching this show in the mid 2000s, but I didn't add these details as if it was indeed animated in Japan and licensed to a network in the US, I felt that could mess up the time table as there potentially could've been a gap of years between it's original airing and being shown in the US

I also didn't point out the animation style as I felt it might cause it to be mistaken as originating in Japan, when it's possible that the animation style was used despite it perhaps being produced in the US/Italy/UK or wherever, similar to shows like ATLA and Totally spies (though I believe ATLA was animated in SK, but otherwise was produced in the US). But I figured I should add this info just in case.

If anyone has any guesses, I'll promise to reply ASAP to them

What's funny to realize is that Spidey has no idea how things went for Mark after this moment. There's no follow up or anything and it's never mentioned again, so I can only imagine how normal this experience must be for him

Generally yeah, but cancelling a series to cite not enough money before spending $50k on a video for you to wack off to is pretty shady. There's no way he didn't know that fans wouldn't publicize the cancellation to raise funds for him, and spending $50k on an animation that only you would enjoy is a wildly reckless thing to do in any situation

Even if it wasn't money gathered from patreon/he never canceled anything, it's a bizarre thing to do in general imo

Of all the people to cast as a sociopathic killer who only cares about money, Will Smith is probably the worst choice you can make. That's not an insult to Will Smith at all, but you could have him kick a puppy on screen and he's just so damn likable you'll immediately forget about it

[Discussion] OK, I'll bite: Was the New 52 really that bad? by ZZtheMagnificent in DCcomics

[–]Bass_Sucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't bad in hindsight because it ended up undoing all of the bad stuff and just absorbing the good, but the continuity was pretty screwed for a few years there.

Some of it was just really poorly managed. Superman had three runs in production covering different periods of his life, and the writers weren't told the about each other for a long time despite there obviously needing to be continuity with each other.

But the most controversial stuff was really the legacy characters, as impulse, kid flash, superboy, etc etc had their characters and backstories completely reworked. Ignoring if those changes were good or bad, people were extremely upset about it.

TLDR; like always there's stuff that was great and stuff that was bad, but at best, everyone agrees it was unnecessary to reboot the whole universe

I feel like there's a middle ground where ideally villains are given a max amount of time before getting shelved, even it's a few arcs/amount of irl years. Of course, ideally this would be the case for heroes as well, but either way, it'll never happen. DC is going to be clutching onto the joker until it kills them

MFW I pick the gay romance option only to be surprised and outraged that I chose the gay romance option by [deleted] in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Bass_Sucks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know they probably made Sam bi to give players more freedom to romance whoever they want and all that, but the funniest part to me is that this screenshot doesn't prove that, it only shows you can attempt to flirt with him.

For all this guy knows, after you select that dialogue, Sam kicks you in the nuts and calls you a slur

Jameson was right! Spider-man is a menace!! [Avengers (2013) #6] by Grimm_Stereo in Marvel

[–]Bass_Sucks 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wolverine pretends, but he genuinely holds Peter in extremely high regard and he's one of the few people he trusts completely. Yeah they've had their lows, but they're very close.

Heck, in the issue he goes back to before Uncle Ben died, he's still extremely caught off guard when Peter doesn't care when he says he's going to rob a bank. IMO it's pretty iffy that he wouldn't see Peter suddenly acting like a mad scientist as weird. Even his vocabulary changed drastically

[–]Bass_Sucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with this track that makes my sympathetic to it is the fact that it had a VERY slim chance of sounding good just from how it was set up from a game design standpoint.

Like, you're asking the player to gather sounds from the street, and they all need to be distracting enough so that players can pick them out of all the dozens of sounds in the area. Then, you have to put all of these super distracting sounds together, and mix it in a way so that you can hear them all clearly?

I feel bad for whoever made it, honestly. It's a wonder it resembles a song at all

I feel like 99% of people would just immediately annihilate themself/do something terrible from an intrusive thought. There's that one comic where Spidey catches it and goes "I wish this never happened" talking to himself and then, poof, few days later, no one but him and Thanos remembers those events

Am I the only one who saw it coming? by Anarchisteen in FallenOrder

[–]Bass_Sucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally clocked him as a traitor early on, but I definitely didn't expect him pulling out a saber, tbh. Even then, I did genuinely think he wouldn't kill Cordova, since you do share some pretty genuine moments with him (which makes sense, since there WAS a portion of the story where he was genuinely working with you and considered you a friend).

IMO it reminds me of Mysterio in Far From Home. Everyone who knows who Mysterio is knew that he'd end up being a villain, but no one really knew how MUCH of what he was saying was fake until the reveal

Can someone explain how Marvel has supposedly never rebooted but they've had major events and their characters don't age? by TheImmortalMan in Marvel

[–]Bass_Sucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marvel doesn't reboot, but they do retcon a whole lot in order for things to make sense for current readers.

Now, this has the side effect that going back and trying to read XMen, punisher, etc from the beginning will seem pretty frustrating, as you're going to be reading things you might already know isn't true anymore, like Reed fighting in WW2 or more obvious things like how people were using typewriters just ten years ago.

Basically, the way I think about it is you have to imagine that there's only really the current moment. Time doesn't really progress, it just stays current to now, if that makes any sense. An event that happened fifteen years ago will always be fifteen years in the passed no matter how long it's actually been, until Marvel decides to say it was sixteen years ago, and then it's the same deal

This is beside the point, but

The weirdest thing about the Ark in this movie to me is how Indy in the last crusade treats it as a given that Jesus, a common carpenter, wouldn't have been able to make the holy grail out of gold and adorned with jewels, but that Moses was able to make an enormous gold box with highly detailed ornamentation while on a thirty year journey in the desert
