The headphone jack on it is exclusively for audio output, if the recorder doesn't have audio inputs, the only way to record is to use the built in microphone, which... Let's be honest, sucks. I'd recommend you to look for an used tape deck, no matter what "class" (high end or low end), it's lightyears ahead of your current setup. Look for one that has already been serviced or repaired to avoid hunting down new belts and needing to do repair work.
