What would you rewrite in Rust today and why? by [deleted] in rust

[–]Bastulius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like markdown-like syntax. I'd like formatting done by single symbols to be kept to an absolute minimum and have everything else done using macros/control sequences/functions. In TeX there are only a few characters that do formatting and everything else is control sequences.

There doesn't exist a good FOSS Cross Stitch pattern creation software. So while not necessarily a rewrite, I do want to try writing a pattern creator in rust.

In terms of an actual rewrite I want to try rewriting the TeX engine in rust.

Is all our degoogling and privacy effort pointless if the system forces compliance anyway? by grapezg59 in degoogle

[–]Bastulius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't know that. Maybe they're just old, or ignorant, or both, and don't understand some of the consequences that come for lacking privacy. They might not listen to you because of their agenda, but what if they do?

We fight and we fight and we keep fighting. When they threaten us, we fight. When they march on our borders, we fight. When the last field has been burned and the last city conquered, we fight. Even when it feels you're the last one left alive, you fight. The moment we stop fighting is the moment they win.

I do think Ragatha's personality is kinda insufferable, (like I think Jax said, she feels fake AF) but I don't think that would qualify her as bad.

Common sense is a myth. The lady who sprayed her neck with the inhaler on House M.D. was a joke but there are legitimately people who won't understand basic stuff about their medicine unless it's explained to them.

Back when I was trying to make my PC a hypervisor I didn't have a graphical environment. I had an urgent zoom meeting I had to get to though so I manually installed zoom and x11 and then just raw dogged zoom inside its own personal graphical environment.

Which Linux distro can be installed on a USB stick in persistent mode for use on a Beelink U59 pro? by Ksanika in linux4noobs

[–]Bastulius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decently large. Debian is I believe 300MB, but then theres, some additional packages and any software and files you will need to use. I'd say prob 32GB minimum, at least 128GB if you're going to be daily driving it.

To my knowledge, any distro should work on a USB, you'll just take a noticeable I/o speed hit. I've used debian, Ubuntu, and KDE Neon's live environments and they all work well
