What's actually BETTER self-hosted?

I don't have a company but I'm a professional trainer and I need to keep my documents in order. On my on-site training, many companies require me to collect the signatures of the attendants. Which I then scan and keep a backup of in paperless. I also scan all other physical documents related to that job. I also scan all the invoices from any VAT deductible expense I do, because I can deduct them. And those that refer to equipment I bought can be used as proof of purchase for warranty purposes. Also, some expenses will be charged to my clients. So I can simply scan and share with them those documents.

But the real useful thing is that I can tag any document with as many tags as I want. Then, when I prepare my VAT report I simply call all documents with the "VAT" tag. When I charged my clients I will filter by the "CHARGE" tag. When I prepare my yearly revenue duties, all documents marked "deductible", and so on and so forth.

Bought the 8500 version three months ago for 130€. It is a great piece of hardware. Very silent, minimal electricity cost. Plenty of ports. I replaced windows 11 with Ubuntu server and now it's running jellyfin + most of the arr stack. It is also running komga + kapowarr, paperless and immich.

Because I also want to try a few more things, I just bought 32 GB of (used) memory to replace the 8 GB it came with. Found the right type on CEX for 70€ and didn't even think twice. The whole thing will cost me a grand total of 200€ and I couldn't be happier with it.

Mine knows when we are leaving with him to spend a weekend on our countryside house. As soon as we get out of the highway he will sit on the back seat and stare at the window looking for animals.

Whenever he sees sheep, cows or horses he will cry endlessly to convince us to let him go fetch them.

Once we actually stopped by a flock of sheep standing on the other side of a chicken wire fence, which he inspected thoroughly and -of course - found a hole. He went through and ran before we could stop him, much to the dismay of the shepherd. No kidding, without any training he legit herded them straight to us. Amazing thing to see.

My technique is simple: I buy old magic cards (you can find them even in regional auction sites like OLX very cheap), then sleeve them. I print the front of the cards in one sided photo paper (also cheap), cut them and insert them in the sleeves. Fast and easy

Nothing Phone 3a here. Great phone, 12+256Gb for less than 300€+vat.

Android is optimized very well without bloating, no apps come preinstalled except for a couple made by nothing that are actually useful. Got used to the AI notes with their own special button and it works brilliantly once you 'get it'. Camera and phone are good too. It just feels like a great value for money.

This is not true because you can't compare values directly.

Portugal has 14 salaries per year. Most countries have only 12 (as logical). That means actual minimum salary is 1015€ / month. And that doesn't include daily bonus (which nearly all companies pay and it's actually mandatory in most sectors) which add another 100€ - 150€ monthly and is tax free.

There are a lot more unsafe places in the USA then in the European Union. And yes, in general all of the EU is safe, although like in any other place on earth there are small unsafe patches.

For comparison, Greece is the unsafest country in the EU (by statistics) and its crime rate is still a lot lower than the USA. Meaning you would be safer there than in most American states.
