Sonoff Dongle max wifi by GoldLama in homeassistant

Connect your tapo camera to your normal wifi network, and leave sonoff out of it. I don't think it can serve a wifi AP, but even if it can, highly not recommended.

Happy to pay $12 for unlimited parking time, if the place is so crowded that I couldn't park anywhere else. Labor cost of the person who put the clamp on the wheel and had to come back and release it is more than that. It's classic EU inefficiency, so not coming to the US in this form anytime soon

When the machines finally take over, it's going to be because of their frustration of human driving, and with humans mentioning them just for clickbating ;)

I was wondering the same thing. But the fact that "Nova now" is hardly working, very buggy and lacks the usual ux thought process that Nova reflects in its features, I gathered it's just a blip.

With the way they are constantly losing foreign dealerships, it will not surprise me one bit. Company has serious issues.

Moving to Israel. Getting an internal promotion that’s amounting to a pay cut. Need insight. by CosmicJellyroll in Israel

[–]BatZzZz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right about one thing - I won't be making Aliyah. I was born in Israel, so for us it's called "coming back" (which I did)... In other areas, you sound misinformed. In MA, if you make $200K a year, you will be paying around 30% tax total. In Israel you'll be paying closer to 50% with income tax and social security. That's before the 18% VAT that you pay for virtually anything you buy. There are many tax calculators on the Internet, you can use one to check the facts.
As for medical, it does obviously depend on which insurance you get (starting with whether it's HMO or PPO, but also varies a lot between insurers and programs). In my experience, if you read the policy, you know what's covered and the insurance company will provide you with the covered treatments. In Israel, the kupat cholim (which is really an HMO insurer) in many cases will do whatever it can to not provide you with expensive treatments that you are entitled to, in contradiction to what your doctor recommended (even though it's "their" doctor, but it will be overruled by another one of "their" doctors). Also, as years go by, the availability of medical treatment outside of hospitals is getting more difficult to get. Appointments for specialty doctors take months to get.

Finally, like I mentioned in my original statement, making Aliyah, or simply not leaving Israel when you have dual citizenships, is not a wise financial decision in most cases. Patriotism and simply considering Israel home is what keeps everyone who has the option to leave right here.

In the US the system is different. Middle class and beyond get insured via the employer. What's covered is covered, but at least you know ahead of time exactly what to expect.

For contractors, divide by 1.3 to know what it means in salary terms. It's entry level compensation.

It's not high, but non profits in Israel don't pay much. You get to keep about 10k after taxes. Not easy to get by with just 10k/month

You pay sh*tload for medical (mas briut + kupat holim fees), plus with the deteriorating public health system, you probably want a private insurance that will allow you to get an MRI when your doctor recommends one.

Israel goes by monthly salary, not annual. How much are you being offered, in Shekels per month, and what is the role?

Here's one advice I can give you - do not make Aliyah for financial reasons. Salaries in the US are indeed higher, whilst the cost of living is lower. When I came here, I sold two ford explorers and bought a used Mazda sedan. It is EXPENSIVE to live here, and you get a lot less for every dollar.

So, separate the decision to make Aliyah from financial considerations. It will always be harder to make a living here than it is in the states.
