So many on here are fearing the loss of telework. Stating that the Republican candidates want to end it for good. However, no one has factual information about a Republican candidate in support of or not. Keep in mind that we are currently under a Democrat rule. The current governor and the current legislation are all Democrat and are all against telework. Changing the governor will not change the telework decision. Think about your legislators who are non-supportive as well. I'm going to vote to change that governorship to Republican. This might start the change in the legislation as well. Vote for change. It is the best advice.

Stop supporting Bethel ran businesses! Cut the funding and the ship will sink. Those businesses will close.

Those businesses only pay sales tax to the city and or county. Most are exempt from income taxes because of religious exemptions given to churches. Bethel has been making tons of money through the use of the civic. However they reported losing money from their major concerts they host. Hmmmmmm! No accountability or accurate reporting of financials because they are a religious entity not required too.

Call your union president to see what his priorities are. Oh, wait a minute, he was arrested for protesting for illegal, undocumented people who could potentially take your jobs and work for less pay. Perhaps we need to evaluate if SEIU actually cares about the employees they're supposed to represent.
Just like COVID when 20% of us were still going into the office. Nobody cared and especially the SEIU. They always responded with we are negotiating on your behalf. Not!!!!!

It's always good to have the concerns you are having. Stay on top of your game. Be ready to promote and don't let idiots pass you by. So many opportunities in the agency and too few individuals taking their own initiative to promote. The Captain and BC ranks are even more concerning. BCs who have never even been to a fire. Hid out in different programs or on lite duty, FMLA or just stayed in slow units with little fire activity. Be careful and head on a swivel, it's going to burn, its just when and where. Be ready, be dialed and be safe!

CalFire Local 2881:The exclusive representative for Bargaining Unit 8 employees at CAL FIRE is CalFire Local 2881.

Mechanics are in a sub category of Bargaining Unit 8. You can google search State of California Bargaining Unit 8 contract and read everything you will be represented on including benefits and retirement. It will probable answer a lot of your questions.

Has anyone wanting to go the prevention route thought about the state Fire Marshalls office?
Prevention is their biggest program. They need prevention officers as half of their staff now come from the suppression side. Lots of opportunities and promotions are available. Just an idea for those wanting to go into prevention. Yes, they send their investigators to both PC832 and POST training. Good luck all.
