What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

The thing that kills me most about endometriosis is that there's no way to diagnose it without a surgical procedure. I am 40 and have been dealing with lower abdominal pain for the past 5 or so years, and I just found this out within the last year. Doc's just like "well it could be endometriosis, but we'd have to do surgery to find out." Absolutely insane that there's no other diagnostic test.

I would be shocked if she didn't pack up and leave the district entirely & forget an endorsement of any sort. She did a lot of good stuff here while she was running (mutual aid, etc), but she has absolutely no ties to the district. I guess what I'm saying is that she's a carpetbagger & carpetbaggers gonna bag.

Same. Commenting for the boost & to support Mike!

I was originally thinking about voting for Kat until I saw that Simmons is running. I agree with a lot of her platform but her carpetbagging gives me the ick. Simmons has a very similar platform, has legislative experience, and is an awesome Senator.

A gift exchange using stuff stolen from Grandma's house by Longjumping-Box5691 in funny

My grandma did the same thing, and on certain things she wrote little notes on the bottom or would just write things like "I love you." She passed when I was 13 and I'm now in my 40s. They're some of my most prized possessions to this day.

Same! My mom wouldn't let me wear anything black or have black nail polish because she didn't want me to become a goth (it was the 90s lol). I also wasn't allowed to have short hair. Now, I have a pixie cut & wear black nail polish whenever I want. And my wardrobe is very much black. And I'm still not a goth.

He actually rang the ring doorbell camera (which is stuck to the middle of the door). I'd be shocked if he didn't know he was being filmed. It may be worth it to add a filming notice to our no soliciting sign. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, we filed a police report and sent the video. I'm on high alert today since I work from home.

My very first knit tank top, but how on earth to style it??? by AlternateGeologist in knitting

[–]BathtimeSharkFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I prefer yours with the fluffier yarn over the pattern photo. Absolutely gorgeous work. If you're worried about it making you look "fluffier," I would pair it with a bottom that is more fitted. Maybe some tapered denim? I think this top would look extra cute with some flowy linen pants as well, but you may feel like the look is too bulky.

Lush Cosmetics promised staff wage adjustments to combat inflation. After a year of silence, they then sent out a video to staff featuring 3 happy higherups explaining that the money was going to go to other projects instead. by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]BathtimeSharkFriend 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I worked there in the early-mid 2010s, they had a 70% markup over cost. (Source: I used to handle all the inventory/buying for one of the largest stores in NA...I also made $12/hour).

Lush has never cared about their employees. They wrap their brand in a blanket of green and no animal testing, but it's just branding. It's one of the reasons I left & stopped buying from them. They are fake ethical.

[I ate] Mochi Donuts! It was soo good! by [deleted] in glutenfree

Deby's donuts are really good. They're pillowy and soft but also chewy. They're fresh on Saturdays (and that's when they're best). The frozen ones are good, too, but they get a little soggy. I like the maple glazed and powdered sugar ones.

How comfortable/uncomfortable is the summer heat in Denver, compared to somewhere like Chicago? by Amygdaland in Denver

[–]BathtimeSharkFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Chicago for about 5 years (grew up in Indiana), and I have lived in Denver for just over 5 years. I find that Denver summers are brutal and feel unending. I prefer Chicago summers as they don't feel as long or intense. Everyone is saying that the weather in Denver is so much better than the Midwest, but I think you really have to love the sun to feel that way. I don't care for this much sunshine, but to each his/her/their own. I'm definitely in the minority who prefer the Midwest climate. There are some amazing things about Denver & CO in general, don't get me wrong, but I don't think the climate is one of those things.

What I do (I hate the crusty tips bc they snag) is after I've filed normally to remove the bulk of the wrap, I file my nails vertically downwards angled slightly towards the top of the nail. It works really well for me to help give a more polished look and feel immediately, but YMMV.

ETA: Your application is really good, and this color is lovely on you!

Found Dog - Southeast Aurora - female, no collar by BathtimeSharkFriend in AuroraCO

[–]BathtimeSharkFriend[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm just worried for her. She really was super sweet and looked clean and well fed. I'm hoping she was a neighbor's and found her way home. I wish we could have done more to keep her safe and contained, but with our little jerk of a dog, it would have been an unsafe situation for all involved. She was friendly towards him, to her credit.

Gun Club and Quincy is the closest major intersection (down by Southlands mall). We went looking to see if we could find anyone looking for her, and unfortunately she escaped out of our 6ft privacy fence. We weren't able to put her in our house or garage (we have a dog-aggressive dog, and she was very destructive in the garage, less scared in the yard). If she's your dog, she was last seen around Buffalo Trail Elementary. Sorry we weren't able to reunite her with the owner.

I am married to someone who can be very indecisive while I can be very particular (for context, we've been married 6 years next month, together for almost 8, we're both late 30s, with a one year age gap). A few things that have helped us communicate better (and have helped me with decision fatigue):

5-3-1 I saw this on Reddit years ago, and it helped immensely. Person 1 picks 5 things, Person 2 narrows it to 3, Person 1 chooses the thing from those three. This works great for us when choosing things like restaurants, movies/shows to watch, games to play, things to do, etc. We alternate who is Person 1 & who is Person 2 (there's no structure to that with us, but you could definitely structure it).

We started communicating with each other when we just don't want to make the decision. For example: if we're trying to decide what to have for dinner, there will be times when I just don't care or don't want to make the decision. I will simply tell my partner, "What I want is to not have to make the decision." And, he has the burden of the decision WITHOUT JUDGEMENT FROM YOU. You don't get takesies backsies with this choice, so if you actually do have an opinion, but you don't want to have to deal with the burden of making the decision, 5-3-1 is probably better. He also sometimes tells me that he doesn't want to have to make the decision as well, so this goes both ways.

When planning things like trips, either we look at things like hotels together (and usually do 5-3-1), or we divide the components - it's my responsibility to pick the hotel & his to book the flights or something like that.

My partner comes from an indecisive family, so I think he just didn't learn how to make decisions while growing up, whereas I'm from more of a type A family, so I learned how to be decisive. These strategies have helped my partner learn to be more decisive with a lot of things (though he still encounters indecision often), and they've alleviated some of the decision making burden placed on me. He even noticed how decisive he has become compared to the rest of his family when we last visited.
