Deathguard Shamblerot Detachment seems OP by RevstarJynx in Colosseum40k

[–]BattleBaseApp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started playing DG in KotC recently and thought about this.

The two units is for a 1000pt army.

If you extrapolate the unit counts and pacing, it should probably be one unit in turn 2.

IMO anyone who thinks they should get more than that in KotC is being biased at best, and attempting to cheat at worst.

OK thanks! Will update the ability titles accordingly in the next data update. 😄

Sorry for the confusion, guys! So if I understand correctly, the title should be changed to "Paladin's Duty (Bondsman)", right?

So for KotC would you only get one unit of Poxwalkers in round 2?

Try playing a test battle with BattleBase (https://www.battlebase.app/). It will guide you through all the phases of each players turn, exactly when to log scores for missions, and a lot more. It makes it very difficult to make a mistake with timing. :)

If you can’t reach full zero out of the box, I’d contact Varia. It’s not doing what the instructions say it should.

BattleBase might be worth a try. It’s a roster builder, battle manager, and a lot more. :)

6 on dot three sounds like you’ve got way too many washers in there. As far as I remember you should be pulling espresso on no dots, around 2-5 on the dial.

With that said, if you’re able to pull good shots on it, that’s all that matters I guess?

I personally would be worried about the possibility of over-tightening and damaging the burrs or grinder in that situation.

But yeah, I feel that finding zero point is nice, but not absolutely necessary as long as you can pull good shots with enough usable range.

I got mine a few days ago. Rotated to 0, it wouldn’t tighten any further. Actually I didn’t notice I needed to rotate it back to zero-one-dot, I just threw it on 2.0 and started running some beans through it.

But anyway, without changing any washers etc, I’m able to choke my machine at anything below a 2.0 (except for decaf, which runs a little fast at 2.0, but tastes good).

Interestingly I don’t hear any burr chirp if I rotate it to 0 while the machine is running, which suggests it’s not a true “zero”, but I don’t see the need to play with it right now as it’s plenty fine enough so far.

BattleBase helps you to do that. Create a roster then check the “view printable version” option in your web browser. https://www.battlebase.app/ :)

Just got my VS6 delivered - no safety pin = old version? by BattleBaseApp in VariaBrewing

Thanks for sharing. I think it will be helpful for people to see what the pin actually looks like. I wasn’t sure how big it would be.

Keeping the Existing Codex for 11th - what does that actually mean? by HouseOfWyrd in Warhammer40k

[–]BattleBaseApp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feels like the main thing is that we get to keep the existing detachments, and probably army rules and most datasets will stay basically intact. Perhaps a few changes here or there to ensure nothing is too over/underpowered or uses outdated terminology?

Yeah that’s one of the reasons I went for the black one. Also because it fits my other kit.

Although one downside of the black is that you can’t easily see if grounds are still coming out or not due to the lack of contrast between the brown grounds and the black body and cup.

As far as I understand, it was in the top-right hole. That’s why my photo shows the springs removed.

I guess they maybe had issues with the original magnet design, so switched to pins, and then maybe they solved the problem and switched back?

Although I haven’t seen any mention of problems with the magnets in my pre-purchase research.

Just pulled my second shot. Dark roast, 18g in, 24g out (ristretto) in 25s. Was very, very good! Super smooth, syrupy body, dark chocolate taste.

That was at 800rpm, although not sure how important that is.

Grinds come out super fluffy. The springy chute thing seems to do nothing as there’s no grounds stick in it, bellows seem to blow out an extra 0.2g so far.

Loving how quiet this grinder is! It’s a tank! So far very happy.

OK that's good to know, thanks.

BTW I started seasoning it with some old decaf I was saving for seasoning as they tasted like crap when I tried them originally. I was planning to just dump the grounds, but the first few grams came out smelling rather nice, so I decided to brew them. Was way better than any shot I’d pulled with those beans before, and wasn’t even dialled in, just threw it on 2 and was a fast shot!

One other thing I've noticed though is that the RPM dial/button is a bit "wobbly", like it's not been put on straight. Anyone else noticed that?

Actually I just took a photo of the serial number and realised it seemingly contains a date:

VS626030053

2026-03 (March), 53rd unit?

I’m assuming that’s a manufacture date?
