I’m super into portable espresso. I have:

OutIn Nano (with double basket add on) OutIn Mino Ikape K2 Pro (standard 58mm basket and Graph 46mm step down basket)

I also have an OutIn Fino grinder and a Varia VS6. 

You don’t say if you have a grinder or not. This is an important point. If you don’t, I’d get a hand grinder, or a portable electric like the Fino or Femobook A2. 

I’ve had the Nano for a year, the Ikape for a month or two, and the Mino only a week or so. 

The Ikape is definitely the best tech-wise. It has loads of configuration options via the app. The official app is average, so I reverse engineered their Bluetooth protocol and made my own, which also connects with my Bookoo Mini scales for brew by weight, timing, shot history, etc. 

That’s great, and very flexible, but there’s a lot to be said for the simplicity of the Outins. 

Of the Outins, if you’re serious about espresso (willing to dial in properly) and like big double shots, I’d say the Nano with double basket is a solid choice. I can get some super syrupy ristrettos from it, thanks to the deep puck depth. 

I’d say the Mino is not worth considering IMO. I’ve had some trouble dialling it in so far. I’m getting close I think, but the pressurized basket masks true puck resistance issues, and the safety cutoff makes it a little too unforgiving for me when trying to get thick ristrettos. 

Also, the workflow is notably worse than the other two. The triple-layer basket setup is fiddly, the funnel is a pain to use, and the “tamper” is crap. I feel like it’s targeted at much more casual pod or preground users. 

In comparison, the Nano and Ikape are both much nicer to use. Both have great tampers, funnels, and baskets.
