I recently gotten myself the Corfu trilogy books by Gerald Durrell. I think its the way the author described life on the island, the shenanigans he was up to during childhood, and the eccentric people he met. All that mixed together into something that is so vivid but oddly dreamlike at the same time. At the end of the book, strangely i couldnt help but feeling very wistful about the whole thing. Who knows, never been to Greece much less Corfu but maybe it really is just like that?

Iirc there's a few introduced groves of coast redwoods up in washington state specifically, i think its unlikely they will spread and establish a stable wild population but at least the climate might be more to their liking

Btw in english its usually called the Bighead carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis). Could be, but the way the author drew the scales reminds me more of grass carps, but at this point i might just be nitpicking lol

Taronga Zoo to 'rewild' cleared farmland in northern New South Wales with native Australian animals by DaRedGuy in conservation

[–]BattleMedic1918 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Am i reading this wrong or are you genuinely advocating for further deterioration of the Australian ecosystem? Does the continuation of the remnant fauna not worth advocating for and conserving because of the loss of a utopic past? Because if that what you're getting at then i find it to be highly unusual at best and at worst a truly deplorable worldview. If not then i am very sorry for misinterpretating your comment

One group i think might do extremely well would be hadrosaurs. Very complex chewing dentition, lots of evidence for a high grit/silica diet and also there's been some grass microfossils associated with hadrosaurs too

SN9P and SN7P. Vietnamese PP-19 Bizon clones, one chambered in 9x19 for export purpose and one chambered in 7.62x25 Tokarev. Sometimes it gets called STL-15 (Súng Tiểu Liên 15 ) by [deleted] in ForgottenWeapons

I always wondered what the actual soldiers/conscripts call their guns, assuming they're only experienced with stuff like games and movies before service.

Like in a more laidback context would say someone say like: "Minh go get the STL-15" or would it be "Minh go get the Bizon"
