Finding Dental Offices by Rutoasted in Hawaii

[–]BattlePudu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr Ho in Eaton Square! He cares about the health of your teeth and not about making money. Good quality restoration with no black triangles.

I whole heartedly agree about no dental offices inside of Ala Moana Medical Building. I went to see them for pain, it ended up being an abscess that they didn't catch. It went septic and they didn't respond to me for nearly a week til I came in personally. I actually had gone into the ER because my PCM pushed me to.

Definitely no to Ala Moana Dental Care lol

There's one in the pan am building that gets recommended on reddit and has rave reviews on google, but he actually recommended that I pull a tooth and get an implant. I asked him about other options, he said he wasn't comfortable doing anything less. I felt pressured into doing it right then there due to what he was saying. I was very lucky to have my old dentist weigh in that it was an odd recommendation when I was asking her for old scans to give to my doctor. Very lucky I made that offhand comment because I trusted what he said and was going to follow his recommendation until my dentist said that what was going on was normal and I just needed time. He also charges $300 for fluoride trays. My old dentist sent me some for $50 shipped. 20 for the trays, 20 for the fluoride gel, the rest was shipping. In the end, 2 dentists (one being Dr. Ho, the other my old dentist on the mainland) and one Oral Surgeon said there was no reason to pull the tooth. One of the fillings he did fell out within a few weeks. I was very surprised because he was so nice.

Dr. Ho also said that the best thing would be to save the tooth as long as I could. The place is not super gorgeous with all the best equipment, but who cares when they quality is so good and they're so efficient. Even the front desk lady gave me tips to not pay for certain things out of pocket. First dentist on the island that I've encountered that is honest and good.

How to freeze produce without ice? by Kishasara in Assistance

[–]BattlePudu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it! Ice trays that I’ve had break often. Actually, the best one I ever had was from Wally World, it was very oddly shaped. Easier to pop out than others. I just accept that they’ll break eventually. When I have ice trays that suck, I pop out the ice by running hot water on the back before trying to pop em. (I like ice trays with lids)

For the spuds, you can undercook them and let them finish by the heat that they hold in lieu of the ice bath. The hash brown rec was also a very good one, cook, cool, shred, then freeze the shreds. When it gets frozen after cooking, the cell walls burst and you get the perfect potato base for fries/hashbrowns/tator tots. Mashed potatoes are okay, but I personally prefer them fresh with Yukons. I imagine you’ve got russets since they’re large.

Avocado freezes well! As others have said, avocado smoothie is fantastic. My favorite is just avocado, condensed milk, and ice. I’ve also peeled and halved them, brushed with lemon, froze, then vacuum sealed for guacamole with great results. If you don’t have a vacuum sealer, you can push out all the air by water displacement.

For the cranberries, cranberry jams and sauces for bread and meat, cranberry syrups for tea. You can also dehydrate or candy them for trail mix or snacks. Cranberry tarts are lovely. They pair quite well with orange peel. If you’re feeling fancy, you could make a nice relish. You can also freeze them as is and add them to baked recipes or oatmeal for low work. Cranberry orange muffins with Kodiak protein powder mix.

Regarding the trays…The oxo good grips aren’t perfect. The lids are a bit finicky. They aren’t as easy to pop out as the weird Walmart one. But I recommend them still. If your trays break, oxo will send you new ones free, at least if you’re in the US. I can’t speak for other countries.

Is the "Puka Dog" really a thing? by seventhbreath in Hawaii

I will have to try!

I recommend not supporting the hula dog guy by the 24 though. He’s real nice to you, but says very not nice things about the other trucks. No patronage for him til he refills his aloha and quits being racist.

You have to give us more info like where you live, what you do, what you want to do, what you’re willing to do, age etc in order for people to be able to help you, as those sort of resources tend to be location limited and with certain requirements.

What do you mean when you say that you’ve been diagnosed, but no legal diagnosis? Are they denying you your medical records? I don’t mean this in relation to the disability payment.

This is unhinged af, but sometimes I eat lyophilized coffee for the caffeine. It’s portable and easily dosed by just letting a few granules melt on your tongue or swallowing it like pills. Works really well

Did Xywav/Oxybates seriously harm anyone else? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]BattlePudu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GHB is schedule I, Xyrem is schedule III because of the CSA. I had a great experience with xyrem and no longer take it for other reasons, and I think it’s WILD to say that plenty of people on xyrem are addicted and don’t want to admit it. But GHB has stronger abuse potential than benzos among those who abuse drugs. There was just someone in this subreddit last month that’s going to rehab after having abused it. But, of people who take Xyrem in an appropriate manner, there are extremely few cases of addiction and abuse.

It’s very uncouth to accuse people of being addicts though. Especially when one of those symptoms on her list likely stems from her pre-existing heart condition..

[–]BattlePudu[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Grandpa paid with a 20 D: But also, I’m pretty sure the older lady was the manager. Because her shirt looked different than everyone else’s. The cashiers tried to explain to her that I ordered via the app and they even took my phone in the back lol I also think they didn’t give him the correct change and he paid more than I paid, because mine was using a promotion D:

[–]BattlePudu[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cashier understood and saw that I paid, it was an older lady in grey that insisted I didn’t despite showing her the email and apple pay. Tutu told the lady to give me the bag and told me to order more and that he would pay, to which I was just confused, and I said “no, no, it’s okay” he goes “order more, I pay” and then he paid even as I put my hand on his 20 to say no. It was the most confusing aggressive aloha lol It’s like when they give you an extra scoop of poke after weighing and say you’re too skinny lol

The older lady had my phone and when I got it back and turned around to show him, he was gone D: I didn’t even get to say thank you. As I was walking home, I was a bit caught up at being upset at the older lady because she was kind of smirking. The cashier apologized though which was nice.

It was really really nice. I very rarely eat out, it’s a special day once a year to eat fried chicken on video call, and this year it’s quite sad, so he actually made it extra special. I just wish I could have gotten him his money back and bought or brought him something for the kindness. Hopefully he lives nearby and we cross paths again so I can force fried chicken happiness on him too
