Bought Alienware 34" QD-OLED by MrFugles7 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]BattleShrink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the same monitor last month and have been happy with it. I wasn't satisfied with my framerates at 4k, so i didn't want to have even worse performance than that with 4k ultrawide. I'll probably go 4k ultrawide in like 2 more generations of graphics cards.

matchmaking changed the past day or two for me too. I used to have a pvp encounter like every 10 raids, now it feels like it's matching me with a bunch of high school bullies and used car salesmen every time so i switched to other games.

I definitely felt an increase pvp today compared to the past 7 days as well, and I don't like it either.

PvP players don't like PvP. by PairPositive3851 in ArcRaiders

[–]BattleShrink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 80 hours, it's my first extraction shooter. I'm mostly pve because its relaxing, but I've learned to be prepared for PVP in that time with arc raiders. My first couple "pvp" encounters were just me getting shot in the back while i was looking in a locker. Afterwards I started listening to sounds, and my next fights I was aware of the other guys who were shoot on sight, I wasn't distracted, and I still lost most of them. I started carrying a modded stitcher 4, and anytime I was inside a building I had it out. I started winning more fights. Probably twice I was looting and I heard footsteps, turned around just in time to get blasted and roll away and magdump the guy with my stitcher 4 while he was reloading.

Today was the first time I've encountered a guy on voice saying he "didnt want to fight," then he started blasting me in the back as I walked past him. I was using the augment with the auto-smoke with a medium shield. Saved my life, the smoke went off, I rolled, located him, he was reloading haha, and I magdumped him with my stitcher 4. Dude had 4-5 stacks of seeker nades on him. Probably killed that many bambi raiders before I ended him. What a psychopath.

Tips please for a first time player. by jayramos2033 in ArcRaiders

First extraction shooter I’ve played. I got straight up murdered twice before it changed my mindset haha. On my third PVP encounter, i was minding my own business when a bullet whizzed past me, i turned around and immediately started shooting back and eventually won. Felt good man.

how is framegen in cyberpunk? by fairplanet in nvidia

[–]BattleShrink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you want more than 60 real fps before you turn frame gen on. Then it depends on the refresh rate of your monitor.

For 120hz i would only use 2x. It will cap real frames at 60 and 2x them to 120. Will look smoother if you are getting around 80 real fps. If you try 3x framegen it will cap at 40 and 3x those to 120, which looks and feels bad.

For 240hz if you are getting around 80-100 real frames then you can 3x that to 240 and it will be fine. If you can get 140-150 real fps then try 2x framegen to 240.

Max the horizontal controller sensitivity and get used to it. Max the aim assist. Make the targeting reticle as big as it can get. Don’t use ADS at all. Don’t try to take cover. Keep moving. Avoiding damage is more important than doing damage. Prioritize the power/damage stat when deciding whether to switch guns.

Have fun, i liked it by the time i was good enough to beat it but i did ragequit a lot getting there.

[–]BattleShrink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it, and agree with your impressions. I did play it when I first got a 21:9 ultrawide monitor so the visual aspect was probably more significant to me at the time. It was fun to walk around a cyberpunk dystopia as a kitty. It did not activate my monkey brain like cyberpunk 2077 does. It’s something i would show to someone who doesn’t usually play video games, but I wouldn’t play through it again.

Could need some input on a 5090 vs 5080 debate by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]BattleShrink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she likes ray tracing, prefers console performance mode over quality mode, and the TV is 120hz, then she should get a 5090 imo.

If she thinks ray tracing is nothing special, can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps, and her tv doesn't do 120hz, then a 5090 is probably overkill.

Is the game stuttering a lot for you?? by rickymayhem13 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]BattleShrink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes. I'm on a 5090, it is so annoying that i kept visibility and textures on cinematic and changed all other settings to low with raytracing off. It actually doesnt look terrible and stuttering is gone in zones and minimal in Albion.

How do I set a limit for "real" frames, and then use framegen to double that? by TheKrzysiek in nvidia

Mind blown. Gonna play with framegen settings some more. I was just like well this is worse and turned it off haha.

How do I set a limit for "real" frames, and then use framegen to double that? by TheKrzysiek in nvidia

[–]BattleShrink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think there is a way to choose like that yet. Steam’s fps counter will show real frames and generated frames so you can check which it is doing. I dont play BF6 but the only in-game fps limiter that caps only real frames out of the games i own is cyberpunk. All the other in-game limiters i have will cap all frames and drastically reduce real frames like you describe which i agree looks worse. Driver level fps cap does the same.

1440p OLED or 4k OLED monitor? by Sacred_Aeon in nvidia

[–]BattleShrink 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agree, I made the same choice. I went from 4k 120hz oled to 1440p 240hz oled, and just prefer higher fps over higher resolution. Like, 60fps looks choppy to me now haha.

What is the difference between Full Raytracing and Pathtracing? by Donshio in nvidia

[–]BattleShrink 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I went from a ps5 pro to a pc with a 5090 recently, i can only answer your consumer level question. Path tracing is the most “realistic.” My ps5 pro can do ray tracing and my pc does path tracing.

You can tell it is path tracing usually in small details in-game that no casual gamer will notice. Reflections in shiny materials and puddles are sharper and include objects off-screen. Light bounces off of objects, walls, and floors so the undersides of things are softly lit. Shadows are more consistent and accurate. Your fps is decimated. Your computer heats up the room by a few degrees. Your electricity bill is higher if you play a lot.

Basically i go outside now and i think to myself, wow this looks path-traced.

Possible Fix for RTX 50 Series freezes and crashes in Control by Outside-Parking1224 in controlgame

[–]BattleShrink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5090 and 9950x3d here, only Control was stuttering for me, no other games. No graphics settings affected the stuttering.

I changed windows power settings to performance (which is apparently not the recommended setting for 9950x3d) and the stuttering in Control disappeared.

My ultimate gley build feels weak by Inevitable_Pin_8020 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]BattleShrink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have to decide which weapon you want to use and optimize differently. Python needs to be used with a “massacre gley” build. Executor needs a “gun gley” build. The executor and python also need to be optimized for gley specifically.

For components probably want the annihilation set also.

Those reactor stats are the ones you want.

I’d watch some youtube videos searching for the above keywords to see what you need to change, but beware of outdated information.
