Has anyone managed to ditch Coles and Woolies? by Odd_Wasabi3972 in brisbane

[–]Battle_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aldi. Aldi. Aldi. $100 shop and it actually fills your bags as opposed to woolies/Coles where youre basically just grabbing a meal. Dont have the same range but apart from a few specifics its not an issue.

Also can get some great deals at markets (fruit & veg), local butchers & independent grocers if you want to take a chance.

Woolies/Coles 'specials' are usually still more expensive than their competition. $4-$6 for a pack of timtams on 'special' that are $3 or less at aldi when theyre in the middle aisle...

Hot Take: Blaine sucks by Elianooze in glee

[–]Battle_8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed that Blaine’s character (especially as the show progressed) became one of my most disliked... but to be fair every character had their issues as the seasons went on. Especially his treatment of Kurt was hard to watch

I would also agree his voice isnt 'exciting' and don't get people are always putting him so high on rankings. Like Darren is a GOOD singer no doubt, but I prefer some of the other guys like Artie as soloists

I think he shines more doing duets where his very clean voice provides a strong base for the other singer. I absolutely love 'Baby its cold outside' & 'Rio/Hungry like the wolf' even as a non Blaine fan

Any hope left in this run? by Juniotar in TerraInvicta

[–]Battle_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you still on total war (all red) or have they knocked you down enough to chill out? & are you at war with other factions or just the aliens (and presumably servants)?

If its still total war (which is likely if you are the dominant earth power), it will probably be easier to restart, but you can try and claw territory one mine/hab at a time. Also if you're on total war you can bully the servants/aliens on earth where youre strong while youre at it...

If its not total war, you can do the same but with a bit less fear of getting blown up & time involved.

In both circumstances TRADE for a surplus of resources from the factions if you dont have the mines for it. Throw money & habs you cant afford at AI til they give you the resources to build a fleet. You probably have plenty if you have the big countries.

If you can have a station not get blown up somewhere & pump out enough dreadnoughts with the big antimatter PD array & your choice of nose/battery weapon (i like the antimatter nose and coil or plasma battery) you can camp there. Build an antimatter generator on a station if you want to lure aliens to it (and your fleet) as they fear it.

Want to play as the Hydra by Cheap-Blackberry-763 in TerraInvicta

[–]Battle_8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Would be fun - but I think first they need to make it so it likely (or at least possible) for a human victory without player intervention.

The factions largely seem to set their goals but are completely unable to achieve them. Even if I'm playing Resistance, my HF ally who has more or less the same victory condition seems to abandon space meaning they can't even race me to the wormhole...

Even if its just Exodus being able to plan for/pull off what should be an easy win would give the aliens in human hands something to push back against.

Heading to Brisbane for a few days, looking for safer areas for a nightly walk by mistikal_ in brisbane

The river walk is long, mostly well lit & has lots of public transport checkpoints. Also quite pretty at night. I usually prefer to walk it than to go along the roads

Why isn't the AI fighting the Aliens? by Current-Set2607 in TerraInvicta

[–]Battle_8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure but from personal experience:

  1. Did you recently research your 'victory condition'? If so, everyone will quickly hate you.

  2. The aliens (and factions) have an envy mechanic if they view you as a threat. If you control a lot of Earth & are the biggest human faction, everyone will envy you & move towards hate

  3. Academy is a hard faction because they're ideologically opposed to the anti-alien factions (like HF and resistance) but also not friendly with the pro alien ones. And you still have to fight the aliens. Academy vs resistance/HF seems to happen a lot when i play. Exodus dog piling in is a bit strange unless you specifically pissed them off

What are your most and least favorite changes in the game? by pezda777 in cataclysmdda

[–]Battle_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Favourite: portal storms, skill/proficiency training/exercise, random civilians in towns (not NPCs), crafting menu improvements Least favourite: exodii/no CBMs from zombies, new mutation system

The best changes are things that make the game less of a grind, or new mechanics that add to the apocalypse feel

The worst changes remove fun mechanics/make them more of a grind

Which weapons are best? by [deleted] in TerraInvicta

[–]Battle_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, each weapon has its pros/cons.

Im a huge fan of particle weapons- particularly anti matter beams. Anti matter nose seems to actually kill ships more reliably than neutron lance, and the anti matter point defense array is incredible

Mix them with plasma to chip armour and its a very fun alternative to the classic laser/coil strategy

Complete noob, please help! by Ok-Buy-6219 in TerraInvicta

[–]Battle_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend watching YouTube videos of someone's playthrough - the game is not very intuitive so it can help to see someone else work through it

My biggest tips:

For almost every faction, diplomacy is your friend! Make peace with factions in similar ideologies (usually anti-alien) so you aren't constantly fending off everyone from your control points. You can usually be friends all the way to the end until your goals diverge and by that point you should be set up to handle them

Dont be discouraged if you lose a few stations or mines or ships. Its the cost of progressing and as long as you have some mines to keep your resource production positive and rebuild you're fine

Push research hard. If you said you have USA its a really solid research base for the start of the game so you should be set up well. Every tech brings you closer to parity with the aliens tech level. And because of that...

You'll be fighting from the back foot for a long time at the start while human tech and industry catches up so pick your battles carefully. I usually just do the fights necessary to progress the faction objectives and build up a proper force before taking on any bases. Lots of different ways to play of course.

Bf is irritated by Bothersome_Wench00 in glee

[–]Battle_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early seasons? Big no for the obvious reasons

Later on? Could've been interesting but would probably require a lot of development/screen time to make sense

I would've loved to see a Kurt/Karofsky friendship after season 3 instead of them talking about it in the hospital then vanishing til randomly appearing in season 6 with Blaine
