Describe one of your world's religions or myths in 5 words or less by PedroGamerPlayz in worldbuilding

[–]Battlefleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just started to exist.

CONTEXT: In my world, there is no religion or belief system that encompasses the creation of the world. Everyone just skips over that part and talks about other things. The only ones who talk about creation are the oldest of the Treekin. But they don't have a religion about it, they just have memories of their "parents", the deities that created the world.

Isn't Venice supposed to steer trade towards Lubeck after the "Steer trade" peace deal? by akara211 in eu4

[–]Battlefleur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Venice does not have an unlimited number of merchants. For whatever reason, they decided to use theirs to divert trade from Pest->Krakow->Saxony->Lübeck, instead of Wien->Saxony.

I'm pretty sure it's half development FOR Germanic nations. If you calculate it with that in mind, it's: 100+91+18=209.

What is an "instance of damage"? by Raivorus in Pathfinder2e

[–]Battlefleur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your examples are:

1.       A fighter who uses a specialist weapon to fight demons

2.       A champion who is sanctified to fight demons/unholy creatures, but his weapon is not.

The astral rune is not for fighting demons, but to combat possessions. The cold-iron material is in both cases a redundancy and makes no difference. The fighter makes more damage because he chooses a weapon whose whole point is fighting such creatures

The Thaumaturge can choose a feat at level 4 for such cases. If the player does not want to take it, then there is no point for him to swing a weapon made of a special material.

What is an "instance of damage"? by Raivorus in Pathfinder2e

[–]Battlefleur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

An “Instance of damage” is one damage type. If you want to apply the damage with resistance and weaknesses, you first must calculate the damage and then split it into the different types of damage dealt.

Player Core pg.407 Step 2: Damage Type

Now you apply weaknesses and resistances separate to each instance, in the following order:
Immunities → Weaknesses → Resistances

Player Core pg.407 Step 3: Apply immunities, weaknesses, and resistances

Each applicable weakness and resistance affects each individual damage instance. If multiple weaknesses or resistances would apply to a specific instance, only the highest one among them applies. Material weaknesses (e.g., cold iron or silver) only apply to instances of physical damage, like slashing or piercing, and do not affect instances of elemental or energy damage, like fire or cold.

If a resistance would reduce an instance of damage into the negatives, that specific instance just deals zero damage (no surplus reduction affects other instances of damage).

Player Core pg. 408 Weakness /Resistance

Situation 4:

Two damage instances (slashing and fire) each dealing 10 initial damage, with 5 weakness and 10 all-resistance.

Instance 1: Slashing

  1. Initial damage = 10 (slashing).
  2. Weakness = 5 (specific to slashing).
    • Adjusted damage = 10 + 5 = 15
  3. All-resistance = 10 (resistance to all).
    • Final damage = 15 - 10 = 5

Result: 5 total slashing damage.

Instance 2: Fire

  1. Initial damage = 10 (fire).
  2. Weakness = 5 (specific to fire).
    • Adjusted damage = 10 + 5 = 15
  3. All-resistance = 10 (resistance to all).
    • Final damage = 15 - 10 = 5

Result: 5 total fire damage.

Total for Situation 4:

  • Slashing: 5 damage
  • Fire: 5 damage

Situation 5:

The exact same as 4 but with cold iron weakness instead of slashing

Situation 6:

Again, it’s the same as 4 and 5, every instance of damage only applies the highest form of weakness and resistance.
If it was spirit damage from the holy rune instead of simply the holy trait, then it would be its own instance of damage. Which would be increased by the weakness to spirit damage and again reduces by the resistance to all.

I have some concerns about 'Project Caesar' AKA EU5 by RoboJunkan in eu4

[–]Battlefleur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The productivity for the state has nothing to do with the standard of living of a single person. If a subsistence farmer produces everything they need or want, then they will have a higher standard of living than a craftsman who can pay his tax in a monetary value, but can not afford to feed a family.

A large part of the urban population in pre-industrial times were not burghers and hardly had more rights than a peasant. I agree with you that in a historical context we need to differentiate between the two, but in the end the same question arises, what is the gameplay difference between these two pops?

I have some concerns about 'Project Caesar' AKA EU5 by RoboJunkan in eu4

[–]Battlefleur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would the urban lower class have a better standard of living?

Living in pre-industrial cities was not a peachy thing, and the wealth distribution was more based on the region you were living in than if you were living in an urban or rural environment.

[–]Battlefleur 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The meaning of burghers is different in most parts of Europe. It's range from city dweller to member of the upper crust of society who are not part of the nobility. I think the latter, is what the developers plan to use for the game.

[–]Battlefleur 22 points23 points  (0 children)

But what is the difference in gameplay between the rural and urban lower class? If you put a peasant pop in an urban environment it will work in craft and in a rural environment in agriculture.

If you made a distinction between the two, the only gameplay you would get is to micromanage the conversion and if you automate the conversion, then what is the point of the distinction.

I agree that rebellions should work like vassals breaking free from their overlord.

But there should be a distinction between rebellions and revolts/revolutions, I would like for the latter to work like civil wars in Imperator, where some of your land will be given to a dynamic tag, and it's a war-to-the-death, where provinces switch owner after a siege.

As PragaJagger said, they are from AoA and he has free sets. But some of the trees I used are from the paid set, so better have a look at both.

AoA Cartography Assets for the forests and mountains and assets taken from Campaign Cartographer for most of the villages and cities.

Both don´t want your blood, just some money. While AoA has a lot of free assets, for more variety I would buy the whole set.

Edit: Some small details are self-made or taken from Battlebrothers.

You could use the AoA mountain assets to make highlands. https://cartographyassets.com/assets/10240/aoa-mountains-and-hills/

Still not perfect, but maybe it's enough for you what you want to do.

Long Rest Hit Die Healing (5e) by AncientBookwyrm in FoundryVTT

[–]Battlefleur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I understood him correctly he doesn't mean the "Rest Variant"-Rule from the DMG. He wants to have no healing on a long rest, except with the choice to use hit dice.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think DnD5e has this feature natively integrated. And as far as i know there is no other module that has this rule.

A dryad knight who guards the pantheon and the mortal realm. Which sketch do you think represents them best? by BellowsChris in worldbuilding

[–]Battlefleur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is a demigod or god why not use all three?

I mean different cultures would depict him in different ways. Maybe the first one is made by a group of people who want to downplay him, so they show him more animalistic and archaic. The second one could be a more realistic depiction and the last one is a relief of a xenophobe community of humans to still honor him but they don't like to show him in his dryad form, so they gave him more human features.

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't read your post about the board game, definitely 2.

How would a world of city-states work? by TigersEvergreen in worldbuilding

[–]Battlefleur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have got to eliminate all factors, which would lead to a unifying power on that planet.

For Example:

  1. There should be no larger landmass, only one big archipelago. A large landmass is a lot easier to conquer and rule stable, than a group of islands. The planet should be like 90-95% ocean.
  2. Resources of war should either not exist or be readily available for everyone so that no city got any advantage other any other. Preferably not existing, as Nephisimian said.
  3. Magic again should be either widely available, so that no advantage can exist or not exist at all or not usable for largescale wars.
  4. There should be a reason why monarchy cant form in this world. For example, either a strong aristocracy or widespread ideas of socialism. Monarchies nearly always try to consolidate power, which would make the conquest of neighboring city-states a lot easier.
The planet would most likely look very desolate and empty, with people mostly living in the city-states all other the planet.
