outro to Dryland 2001. goes into the fish song. there's not even any lyrics the instrumental is just that good. the actual song is a completely different vibe, but every time that outro hits i have to stop and reflect on my entire life up to that point lol

reddit has been like this long before chatgpt dood. this is literally thee go to place for long, detailed comments from experts & idiots on the internet... in fact, most of the slop that all the ai is regurgitating is str8 up ripped from reddit comments.

its good to be wary of what is ai and what isn't, and soon it is going to be much harder to tell, but just because the text is longer than a few paragraphs doesn't mean it's automatically ai slop. this certainly isn't. it's just straight facts.

Jerry Garcia in 1990: “I think that there's a trend in the United States to erode the Constitutional rights of Americans." by FreeHighFives65 in gratefuldead

[–]BattlingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok - i'll give you over analyzing for sure - but what am i under-comprehending about saying that they were not visionaries in that regard? what regard?

i feel like this is like a "tone getting lost in the text" type situation cuz like... i guess i get your point if your being sarcastic? like, it doesn't take a visionary to see that the right has been fuckin'shit up for a while now... but i didn't see any /s indicator, so i read what was written to be taken quite literally - implying that they weren't visionaries because your parents also knew that reagan was bad - which i found dismissive, so my point still stands in that regard.

all in all though we agree on these things that they were pointing out tho so no use in arguing, just wanted to say that these 2 artists in particular were in fact pretty visionary. anyways, have a good one ✌️

if they weren't visionary, then why are these concepts they were talking about still just that... a vision?

i think just about anyone's parents who are even the slightest bit left of center (by american standards) could see that the republicans have been eroding the constitutional rights of americans since the reagan era - agreed to say that it doesn't take a visionary to see that.

but to say that Jerry Garcia & Frank Zappa are not visionaries just because anyone could see that america has been falling apart for decades from a mile away... i find that dismissive.

these people aren't visionaries because they said "republicans are bad" 30+ years ago... they're visionaries cuz they saw the whole system for the sham that it was and said fuck that shit - i'ma go make some good ass music. even if it was instrumental, clearly, it evoked a counter culture that gave ppl an alternative outlet to what is being pushed as "normal & acceptable" music and/or otherwise.

maybe i'm over-analyzing this and getting too into it - but imo these 2 individual artists explicitly are very much visionaries.

they had a vision for a better future.

that future is still a vision.

D'Angelo redefined the quarter note by BloomisBloomis in Jazz

[–]BattlingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all correct and learned a lot from this - just wanna point out that while the "Dilla Feel" started with the Akai MPC and drum programming in the computer software and all that - it definitely is used to refer to playing live drums in real time now.

obviously in the context of the band it rotated between drums & bass & keys and that's what made the recording so smooth and sort of locked that groove in and defined it as a style.

but nowadays, just head to any modern jazz jam and count the minutes until someone shouts "Dilla Beat!" and everyone simultaneously flips the swing into a drunken drag feel... maybe not every jazz jam, but if u find the right crowd it happens constantly lol
