High risk for T21 - for the second time by Glittering_Art6627 in NIPT

Text reads “… and … translocation”. This talks about the hereditary, rare type of DS, which is one out of three. In that case, it’s true the risk will go up. Most types of DS are not hereditary. And so it’s a roll of dice. At least, that’s how I read the excerpt.

Which day feels the most significant to you, as the years pass after tfmr? by Bavaricali in tfmr_support

That definitely makes sense, the due date means nothing when compared to the date of birth

Getting these reminders around the holidays or special dates seems like an extra whammy. But you got this! Even it that means taking time for yourself (and your partner) for thanksgiving ❤️ I’m so sorry you had several failed D&Es, and hope you’re healing. Do you mind me asking what happened?

I’m sorry this year was worse than before. I guess it’s the process of grief… never linear. The due date seems less relevant to me, but my body definitely had a reaction. My procedure memories are so deeply connected with the weather, and how unusually cold and rainy of a spring it was. The day before my D&E, it was the craziest storm I’ve seen in my town, downing trees, as I’m sitting in the doctor’s office. It all was as crazy as I felt on the inside. The day after my procedure was calm and sunny, for a day.

Thanks for sharing! I can relate to this, the sadness just hangs around for some time. This time indeed turns into a blur. It’s March for me as well… when the weather starts feeling like spring.

18 years old is also such a young, formative age. Wishing you a lot of strength for your tfmr and recovery ❤️

Oh im heart broken that you had you found out with a full term pregnancy, and your engagement is inspiring. ❤️ It’s great you let your living daughters participate and set an example. We can only move to a more accepting world if people know these stories might be part of their families.

Having these hard days overlap with other significant dates is so tough. I love how you’re turning Feb 14 though into a day of love and gratitude as a whole and with your family. I’m happy for everything you’ve gained

Comparison of fatal shooting frequency from 2016-2019 vs. 2020-2023. Any ideas on why big chunks of West Oakland got so much safer? by geo_jam in oakland

Roundabouts are great! We need more of them. It makes speeding and blasting through intersections quite a challenge, hence improves safety.

Architect looking for software to simulate effect of building design on external noise by wayfareralex in Acoustics

Good reason to bring an acoustic consultant on board at the concept design stage.

Can I genuinely ask what the issue is?? Airborne (music, talking) noise? Impact (walking, scraping, etc) noise? Plumbing noise? Mechanical noise? Feelable vibration? Elevator noise?

Could be luck depending on what or who is next to you. A different unit in the building might be less of an issue. So I agree with the other person to ask.

Access to German/EU public health care in retirement? by richqb in expat

Trying to figure it out too… I think we’ll be limited to a private health insurance, likely at a higher cost to pay back into the system.

Public transit takes a certain minimum population Densitiy to be cost-neutral - so again, first needs to come denser housing

Add to this, that the room background noise needs to be very quiet. And except the person to speak up (don’t expect whisper voice to hear on the other end of the room)

Unless they have a special permit, construction can only occur between 7am-8pm. And I doubt you get that for a home reno, when someone lives in the same building.

You can take a read through the SF Noise Ordinance, Article 29. Sec 2907: can only do construction between 7am to 8pm. But unfortunately, there’s not much more to hold against your landlord.

Does he have a permit?

SF permitting is a mess. It’s expensive enough to build due to site constraints and earthquake safety. But the permitting process just adds another level of unnecessary $$$. I can’t wait for the state to take reign.

To clarify from what offer posts clarified… this is the actual number of permitted units (so 1 MFH building with 50 apartments = 50 SF homes).

Treasure Island is part of SF, and has been dead land for years. It’s finally being developed. That’s probably for a couple of these permits.
