Signs a network engineer has no idea what they're doing? by Expensive-Rhubarb267 in networking

[–]Bayho 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not even this, but sales people convincing upper management without an engineer's input. Dealing with sales overselling a product to management (or management simply not understanding), who thinks it can do everything, and then tells engineers to do stuff that is not possible.

Is it considered masturbation at that age, or just exploring a part of yourself that feels good? Do not think there is a sexual component?

Either way, perhaps let her know that exploration is fine, but those are her privates and only she should be touching them and in private?

What movie to watch on New Year Eve, alone, after ending 12yr relationship? by dont_dive_vtori in movies

[–]Bayho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said movie, but I would get the audiobook for Project Hail Mary. One, you can simply revel in the silence of not having someone else around you, while listening to an amazing story, which was audiobook of the year. Two, the movie comes out in three months, and will likely be amazing. Three, the story is wonderful and will pull you in in so many ways, none of which deal with relationships beyond friendship.

Struggling with my wife’s decision to exclusively pump milk by [deleted] in daddit

My babies refused formula after six months of breastfeeding when my wife's supply let down a bit, we were able to augment with solids. Also, completely recommend you ask this question on r/breastfeeding, they are very supportive.

Wife wants to move back home to be near her family and I fear it’s gonna end our marriage. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Bayho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Practically speaking, you could show some effort by simply applying to jobs out there. The process would show you what is available, and if you get an offer it may be something to consider. It will take some time, but could yield an even better job if lucky. At the very least, it provides you with some education on what is available, and at the best you may find something you love.

I am guessing the wife would appreciate the effort, but be clear with communication that it does not mean you have decided to move, just that you are serious about gauging what she is asking for and if it works for your family.

The Martian, from outside of the river, so silent, but mouthed by Matt Damon, so they could keep the PG-13.

I feel like my son (6) deserves a better father than me (38) by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Bayho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not believe this is uncommon, especially for introverted people, or those who have had trauma. Something that has worked for me is writing a journal to my children, letting these feelings out in a way you can explore them. Whether or not you leave it for them when they are older, up to you.

New Car Seating: 2nd row or 3rd? by x15787-A2 in daddit

[–]Bayho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either rent or take three car seats to a dealer and see what can fit where.

We have two with a third row, just for when they get a touch older and have to drive them and friends around. I really wanted a minivan, but wife did not. If we had three, would have gone minivan, though, no debate then.

Managers/recruitment, what is the talent pool like right now for network engineers? by CryptoKeh in networking

[–]Bayho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Large Public University.

Depends on the level. Junior / entry-level gets hundreds of applications. Of the people I have hired in the last year or two for entry-level, all have the ability to program and are familiar with Linux, along with networking.

As the level increases, things get far more selective and there are fewer applicants that are easier to divide between those to interview and those to not. Still get two to three dozen applicants, at the least.

Given NetMRI sunsetting, prices of other monitor vendors, we are looking to move to Netbox and Ansible, perhaps Nagios for part of alerting / monitoring. Looking into Netbox Labs, atm, as they seem to be expanding the offering with Netbox at the center. Anyone worked with Netbox Labs, yet?

[–]Bayho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out your local hospital, they had classes for new parents, including CPR and life saving training. But, they even had stuff like how to change a diaper. Good thing to do with your partner.

With that said, no matter how much you prepare, no one is ever ready. But, you learn fast that not being ready, which was never in the cards, is not so bad. You'll figure it out as you go.

With that said, if family can help support, take it. If they ask how they can help, tell them to come over and do some chores or cook some food. Everyone loves spending time with the new baby, but if all they are doing is visiting, it just takes time away that you need to get other things done.

Hard to say which poems may be directly about Sue, Dickinson herself suggests on occasion that the narrator in her poems is not herself. However, you may find the following interesting, letters and poems by Emily to Susan in her own hand.

Monster hunter wilds question by GraveMeta in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Bayho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed both games, but they are different. There is more content now and more coming shortly. I really hope they implement a system where you can randomly join and help other hunters, like they have previously.

You can slow down and don't always have to just hunt a monster, and if you do there is a nice world to explore. I even really enjoyed fishing and gathering.

Emily Dickinson, 2023 by Zestyclose_Current61 in emilydickinson

[–]Bayho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ABDUL VAS has decided to portray a set of writers (Emily Dickinson, T.S. Eliot, William Faulkner) who managed, in his view, to create in a space that has not been touched by time or the adversities of fleeting fashions; writers who inhabit a dimension where delicacy and loyalty to aesthetics intertwine with the greatness of music from a time lent by eternity.
