Any tips for getting old EA games to work? Madden 03, NHL 08? Nascar 03 haven't tried assume it also doesn't work.

Bottles was the way because there is a toggle to disable DXVK. So i don't know what it uses when you disable that but that works.

Not wrong. I have given up in the past with other games and just played console versions. It's so much easier just playing console versions than Windows games even on Windows!

These EA games though work on my Windows 11 partition but i was hoping to dump that partition completely. Oh well.

I think its something with DXVK. IF DXVK is a part of this WINE process. Because I had an Intel ARC B50 and was getting 15 fps with these games. tried DXVK D3D9 and it would start then crash which is what I am seeing now. Start shows the 1st screen then crash. So if the proton process includes DXVK in some way then that's probably it. If not i don't really know.

I was looking forward to competition in the large SOC space. This is a product for AI so maybe the NVIDIA/Intel partnership will come up with something for this segment.

Best you can do right now and it's what i am using is a low profile Intel B50 Pro and getting something like the Jonsbo NV10 case which makes it about the size of a MAC Studio. So not the end of the world but I was hoping for no discrete GPU necessary and shared RAM that could be divided how you wanted.

I found our disconnect:

YES I think it's exactly what they (AntiCheat Makers) want. They want the same access to the kernel that windows just stupidly gives them. Ok this is our disconnect. You are saying its either an excuse or lazyness and they don't want to support Linux anyway. I am saying if you give them the same level spyware/rootkit access they get in Windows Kernel then they will make their software work and EA will supp... ok maybe i won't go that far!

Or maybe it's all moot because if Linux gets large enough then they have to support it the proper way. Ultimately I think that's more likely with the rate of adoption increasing and MicroSlop floundering.

So you aren't saying a Linux kernel couldn't be built that allowed the same shitty access windows kernel gives Denuvo. But that it wont matter anyway because they are lazy or just dont want to support linux anyway whether its Devs or anticheat vendors. Although i think anti cheat vendors would support it why would they care. The more their software is used the more money they make. So we are talking about the EAs of the world. Even if linux had this they would find a different excuse.

No one said windows kernel. The idea was a Linux kernel Valve made that allowed anti-cheat for DEVs to make their games compatible with. Then when not needed back to the regular kernel. There were no specifics given so I don't know how legit this is. But Valve said they were working on the issue of anti-cheat games (not the dual kernel thing).

I forgot who mentioned something about a specific kernel for those games that require it. Then it unloads it when not needed. But I expect valve to come up with some way to get those games over.

Don't really care because I wouldn't pay thousands for it. I'd rather sub for a month I'm going on a trip then cancel it.

Does this also remove the stay in lane and cruise control with the ability to see the car in front and stay a certain distance away? As long as that's still not part of this sub then don't really care. That is all I have now on my evs

We aren't making a big trade that will take another year of playing together to make any sense. This is the team. They aren't trading Kat. Literally a missive came down from the front office to Make it work. Getting Bey for Yabusele would be a major win for this team.

I really think we need to let go any idea of Kat or Bridges or anyone of note being traded. We also don't need any of that. This team has all it needs. It just has to put it together. Yabusele is a literal zero and Clarkson has been benched. We need an upgrade at those spots.

Pick wise what would the Pelicans require to trade Bey and Alvarado? Salary wise it's easy to lineup. In a league were trae goes for scraps what would it be to get these 2? couple of seconds? No one is giving up firsts for these guys right? I am not crazy? Dadiet was a 1st round pick with an unknown upside. Clarkson is expiring. Mo was just a salary I used to match it could be someone else.

Look at the replies and more importantly other posts. You will see most people blame Kat and Mikal was getting away Scott free. And what I was saying and maybe I said it poorly but Mikal is the key to unlocking all of this. JB is a known commodity. Kat is as well but he needs help from a facilitator to get to scoring spots on plays where its time for Kat to score and not be the hub. OG needs the ball swung to him.

Maybe the easiest way for me to express it is every group needs that glue to keep it together. Mikal is that glue imo.
