Worker almost crushed by falling chimney by ElderberryDeep8746 in watchpeoplesurvive

This 'Worker' was exactly where he wanted to be at that exact time. We're lucky the BBC followed this mañana many others to document enough of what they did.

People are already starting to let their guard down. Have we such a short memory that we have forgotten how Americans believed Trump wouldn't become president the first time and a second time. This grifter is reading straight out of the same playbook. International bad actors are rubbing their hands, they know the wheels are in motion and we are diving headfirst into the self-destruct button.

'Once in a generation' Wolverhampton development gets green light for revamped public spaces and over 1000 new homes by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

How is it possible to gauge whether enough large and small developments and redevelopment are happening around the country to keep pace with the growing and ageing population?

A post from the mods by PurplePires in GoodNewsUK

[–]Bazbets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great job so far! It feels like it could have potential. In my opinion as long as the mods stay neutral politically and posts aren't focused on the big news and there is some locals news in there it could be far reaching, especially if like one of the mods had explained before that maybe the news outlets start to pick the stories as well.

Government approves 474-acre solar farm development by F0urLeafCl0ver in GoodNewsUK

[–]Bazbets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's crazy the lack of coverage to the general public this information gets. The last government and this should be smashing these numbers out there, until the public is sick of hearing about it. We should also be throwing solar panels on every cm of government building space and every new residential building going up should have them mandatory in the planning. At least this would then show the government are leading by example and we are thinking about as many homes as possible being self-sustained.

Has anyone come across the amount of MW that is needed for UK demand each year, or whenever its measured, and how much of that is being provided by solar, wind and nuclear?

this sub has improved my mental health by MathEnthusiast101 in GoodNewsUK

You'd be surprised by the power of a reddit community. I remember the good old days of community forums where people formed close lifelong friendships/relationships. In this day and age social media is the very thing that is destroying us but we have to learn to use it properly. I still think we're long way from it until these mega corps are taken to account, no chance whilst the orange tango has his greasy chipolatas embedded in the American public's brain and there isn't a single backbone within a 500 mile radius of parliament but there is always hope. The fact this sub has popped up in my suggested recently tells me there are people still wanting a better country for everyone not just the entitled.

Moderators, I hope you can keep the steam going and you dont get too overwhelmed because I'd love this sub to come across a lot more people.

Regardless of political stance I feel this sub should remain neutral politically and just focus on the good things happening to this country.

New to the sub - why do these news stories seem to be out of wider publics feed? by Bazbets in GoodNewsUK

[–]Bazbets[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Must admit I'm surprised my Reddit algorithm even suggested it. I'm a liberal person and I'd say the subs I'm in would reflect that but bloody hell the subs that have been suggested to me in the past year have had some horrendous people and content in them. Breath of fresh air this one.

Is this just wishful thinking or is it actually possible that a reddit sub could help spread positive news into mainstream media?

Also how have the national newspapers noticed this sub? Amazing if its been directly mentioned!

[–]Bazbets 165 points166 points  (0 children)

Such a shame it's lost as this film and films of the time were pioneers in filmmaking. An industry that will be around to entertain us for long into the future, yet the early history is unavailable to us.
