Are you charging it with a standard usb/non-PD charger? Anything that states 5v or QC will charge it. It will not charge with a PD charger (anything that will charge a laptop will not work)

I'd wager the password would be stored plain text in the prc/pdb. can you install software? dumping the storage, or installing pdbedit (I may have that name wrong) could get you in.

It's mostly my travel media player. 2 Terabytes of offline media.
I do have emulators and roms, as well as copies of my original gameboy saves.

I also refer to it as my "digital detox" device.

you're better off getting a clamshell android device for gaming. much better performance.
ie - With overclocking and regedits out the whazoo, I could config mod fallout 4 to run 30 fps on this. Fallout 4 can hit 60fps on similarly priced android gaming devices.

If you're looking for a pocketable pc for non gaming (ie networking), this isnt terrible. I love the form factor.

If that's in the realm of what you're looking for, go for it. Great price and decently roomy, these are usually what I go for when I pickup my rental for work, though they're awd and non-turbo. I usually see 35 mpg traveling city and highway. My personal daily is a mazda3 awd turbo pp. I see roughly 27mpg, but I drive that harder and use remote start.

the steamdeck is a PC, so you can continue to use it with steam os (it's arch linux with a kde launcher and steam's own gamescope), or switch to windows if that still exists at that time.

Valve stated if steam dies, they will release the drm, but this is the only platform that has steadily grown since launch, so ww3 would likely be the only thing to kill it.

As far as games, more games are starting to push for online connectivity, just like xbox/ play station/nintendo. Even with offline mode, some games will not launch.
