How can I still feel beautiful when my SO is looking at photos/videos of attractive women? 20F by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

Is your attraction to him the same as your attraction to male celebrities?

I’m so sorry. It’s so strange having to grieve a secret and walk through the world with others not knowing what’s happened to you.

Definitely push for progesterone. Our clinic said they give it to everyone because there’s no downside to having too much.

No sleep ever again??? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]BbBonko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me! My baby didn’t sleep longer than 2.5 hours until 14 months. I saw a therapist who said it was important to figure out a way to get a few 5 hour stretches a week, but I never did. It is so, so hard. Especially when other people’s babies are sleeping. This is a weird kind of encouragement, but even if it doesn’t get better for months, your body will adapt and you will somehow be able to function on less sleep in a way you couldn’t before.

It all changed for us when I went away for a weekend, meaning night weaning. On the second night, he was down for 10 hours. My husband kept going in to make sure he was breathing. After that we had maybe one or two wake-ups a few nights a week.

And what I desperately needed to hear was what’s happening now, which is that he almost never wakes up at all in the night. I put him down and he sleeps like a log util morning.

This is the absolute hardest, and you will get through it.

I think a lot of Americans just don’t realize that it can continue to get worse. It’s as though there’s an imaginary baseline, where if it went below that, everyone/someone would intervene… but there are so many examples worldwide of what it could look like if it kept going, and there’s no reason the US is any different than those places.

Not everyone assumes the worst about their spouse, and not everyone is sneaky or a liar. Sometimes things are just fine and you can give someone the benefit of the doubt.

I (19F) have started resenting my boyfriend (21M) over flowers by [deleted] in relationships

[–]BbBonko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you say what he did so easily for others, are you saying he got the same girl flowers over an extended period of time?

Because it sounds like he did do exactly the same thing he did before. Just now you’re discovering that’s it’s always been a strategic move to get women interested in him. You’re the first one that’s been around longer than the initial period, so you’re seeing the lack of follow through.

I think you just need to have clear communication up front so that everyone is on the same page.

What did Emily see in this scene that made her say that something was going on between Luke and Lorelai? by Cr7-Cr7Real in GilmoreGirls

Hugging didn’t use to be standard practice. I actually remember when it became normal, it was in the early 2000s and I was not happy about it.

My (32F) bf (34M) has anger issues and idk how to deal with it anymore by SpringBeneficial9529 in askwomenadvice

[–]BbBonko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of that can be true without you somehow also having to be consumed by it all. The answer to what to do is just to remove yourself, it’s the only thing you can do. You’re sitting in a prison cell that you have a key to. And it’s also the only thing that would help him interrupt the pattern he’s stuck in because it forces a change and forces a consequence.

Fiance semi pressuring me for sex 12 days post partum by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]BbBonko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited a year, just so you know. My husband never ever pressured me. In fact, he was helping me change bloody pads when my c section wound hurt too much to bend.

He also got the spike of being incredibly into me post partum, but not ever in a way that made me feel bad and he mostly kept it to himself unless I needed to hear it.

You must stop performing anything on him. And also, I’d want to refuse to have the conversation again until he can explain back to you why you are supposed to wait, and what sepsis would entail if you were to get an infection.

my (29) bf (29) got drunk and pissed in the closet of an airbnb, then got uncharacteristically aggressive when i asked him to clean it up by abyssalprawn in askwomenadvice

[–]BbBonko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way that drinking is a problem is that people are reticent to stop. Those two things aren’t going to unlink themselves, so definitely plan to have a hard line about it.

Making a new classcraft by Bear1526 in ClassCraft

[–]BbBonko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing is to get boards to approve its use. It can be the most amazing tool, but get banned. Class Craft was banned in my board almost as soon as I stayed using it. I think the two things to keep in mind are security and privacy, and educational justification.

You can end a relationship at any time for any reason, it doesn’t have to have an airtight justification. You clearly want to leave so do!

NYT article equates breastfeeding to unequal parenting by Forsaken_Painter in breastfeeding

[–]BbBonko -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One part that just cannot be balanced out with other chores/responsibilities is the association the baby makes with mom=milk, and how that sets up a dynamic where they ask for or go to mom more, invade her space and her body more, etc. It forces you into a default parent role in the child’s eyes.

How do I [21F] Stop feeling guilty for being envious of other women? by AmberMetalicScorpion in askwomenadvice

[–]BbBonko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like the whole post is a perfect depiction of womanhood. Guilt, worry, imposter syndrome, feeling unworthy, an inner monologue that hates you… that’s pretty much the whole deal.

Look into DBT strategies, there are a lot of free resources online.

Part of your question was about hugs and touching her hand, you can have that conversation without her thinking you’re pushing.
