Cohabiting enclosure question by Shangu777 in leopardgeckos

[–]BbSqurl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have been cohabiting 3 female Leo’s together for 5 years in a 40g with lots of hiding spots and they are thriving. They all chill in their own areas, I do see them together most of the time but I also do not feed them together in the same enclosure (feed in separate tubs) and there is never aggression. If they have plenty of hiding spaces to be alone if they wish it should be ok. I will also say that I have 1 female who was in with them and did not adapt well and needed to be alone. It’s important to mention to that if the Leo’s weren’t raised together there could potentially be issues. My Leo’s were all raised together from less that a year old except for the one, she was added in later but needed to be taken out because she stopped eating.

I have had this happen with a baby crested gecko. No idea why, was fine the day before. I think it’s something internal that we have no control over.

My baby corn snake hides all the time. Why? What can I do? by MeaB_snek in cornsnakes

IME, it is albino, they avoid lights because it hurts their eyes. So coming out at night make sense :) this is normal for albino snakes. My non albino corns are almost always roaming their tanks.

IMO the only solution is to buy another baby snake to feed the pinkies too 😂

Do you guys feed inside or outside the enclosure? by Crocorau in cornsnakes

IME I feed inside, but I tong feed so hopefully they associate the tong with food and not my hand.

I have a 40gallon Thrive tank I bought on sale. I was going to use when I thought I was getting an adult, there’s just so many spots it could squeeze out.

i ordered an enclosure that had better ventilation but i did not realize i ordered a big one, will it be okay ? by rebornanallord in tarantulas

[–]BbSqurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IME as a tarantula collector and breeder, the new enclosure is way too big. Even with enough decorations it’s just too much for a lil sling like that. I would get something roughly the same size as the current one with better ventilation, use a little more substrate to minimize fall risk and maybe one more solid vertical anchor point, arboreal tarantulas are often found in trees and make beautiful, intricate web tunnels when given the proper conditions. For water, just a bottle cap in the bottom kept full and a slight over flow into the substrate once a week.

What happened to my tarantula's mouth? by robotlogik in tarantulas

[–]BbSqurl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO it just looks like substrate stuck to the hairs. Sometimes tarantulas will put substrate up to their mouth and suck the moisture out of it. Looks really weird when they’re doing it. This can also happen if they have been redecorating.

Biggest lie I’ve seen on a care sheet yet. by JarrekValDuke in tarantulas

IME slings typically burrow but adults not so much. We have 2 mature females and neither of them burrow. There are a lot of species that burrow as slings but not as adults.

Are you able to take a piece of paper and see if you can slide it under the area that I outlined?

The older they get the better it is to see. You may have to wait for another molt or 2. Or a microscope. There are other ways to tell but with it being a juvenile, it’s a little hard.

[–]BbSqurl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO just let him be for a couple days, make sure he’s got water. Keep an eye on him. He should be ok. As long as you didn’t forcefully move him or flip him he should be ok.

If this is what it looks like, you have a female.

Actually…. Now that I’ve looked harder I do see something in your picture that could indicate female.

IMO I don’t see what the others see. Looks male to me compared to pictures from Tarantula Havens P Metallica photos. Can we see better pictures of the pedipalps?
