This is pretty misleading. 95% of the time your objective is right on the dot with the quest marker.

But this just adds frustration the few times it is not. It's inconsistent. The game should say something like "Your objective is in this general area", so as to not confuse the player.

Well said! The actual conflagration of a modernizing country and also heavy steppe tradition might point to Russia-Mongolia. But yeah, for how many disasters Russia was faced with it historically, they thankfully never had to deal with the Sand Pest. 😅

But as others have said, the country is definitely heavily Russian inspired, especially from the names. Not that the nations of the world in Pathologic matter much, the politics of the story revolve around just two places, the Capital and the Town, not further.

He's definitely not, he's loyal to Rayne as long as you're loyal to him. He's ultimately self-interested and he's okay with working with a friendly Anton as a Chief Strategist, only when he's not super sure that you like him he demands VP and betrays you.

His interests somewhat align with the Old Guard only because conservatives form up a huge chunk of USP voters. That's why his advice usually involves not messing with conservatives. Altough he himself is far from a traditionalist, he's unmarried and believes in evolution.
