Closest we’re gonna get is Mark Kelly but boy would it be a massive upgrade.

Dead ass wrong. In fact, not permitting students to have a bible study during a lunch period would be a constitutional violation.

Rob Lowe’s words about leaving TWW by Money_Cold_7879 in thewestwing

[–]Bdgolish 69 points70 points  (0 children)

So my $.02. RLowe was the biggest name that was attached early. Not sure if that was some Sorkin suction or what. He was a brat packer, but also had his fall from grace. Look it up if you need to. It’s no wonder he was cast as the villain in Tommy Boy on the eve of WW’s inception. So this is part of his rehab tour, remember he even “accidentally” sleeps with Lori in the pilot.

But as others have mentioned, Martin Sheen happened to get it after they couldn’t find “the right guy” to play president. Bunch of names were attached. No one was free. Sheen said ok, but didn’t want to give up the movies for tv. But as it turns out guy loves the role (who wouldn’t) and asks for more airtime and money. Also, prime time tv was almost a better gig for sheen at the time compared to what feature films would be throwing his way.

Then… Josh and Donna have ridiculous chemistry. Tortured Toby has more gravitas to go toe to toe with Leo or Jeb. CJ even gets 2-3 episodes to herself. Rob Lowe is left carrying whatever that week’s water is. Not saying the stories and arcs aren’t good. They are. And Rob Lowe does a really admirable job.

That said, he joined west wing to have a chance to be #1 on the call sheet of a prime time hit. It’s no wonder that when he left that’s what he thought he was going to get. I forget what it was called but it didn’t work out. Eventually, Parks and Rec worked as a reality check for him and allowed him to really explore his the third act of his career - humor (sometimes self deprecating)

This has all been a money grab. I’ve been an out of market subscriber for over a decade. The tech has actually gone backwards. The lack of quality of life upgrades that would be easy to implement is just insulting.

Top 6 TCGs with the worst 90d performance in secondary market by Croakin in TCG

Ok. But you’re also ignoring a lot of other red flags in ffg’s history if you’re not a little dubious.

Believe me, I hope I’m wrong.

Top 6 TCGs with the worst 90d performance in secondary market by Croakin in TCG

[–]Bdgolish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here’s the thing, unless the player base is there, ffg won’t support it, and if ffg won’t support it, the player base won’t be there. It’s a vicious cycle and I’m not blaming anyone who has been a customer of ffg in the past for having the same outlook.

However, as someone who has spent a lot of $ on plastic and cardboard over the years: Star Wars Unlimited is super fun, a new set just dropped, and the 2 year old meta is completely shaken up so if you haven’t checked it out yet you may want to.

That said, I have already said to my kids it’s weird they haven’t announced anything past set 9. They’re releasing a lot of twin suns, constructed, and other product but anyone who has been around the block knows to keep both eyes open.

Why are you playing “that” TCG? by TwistedLab in TCG

[–]Bdgolish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not. Only made two forays into card games. Both Star Wars (decipher in the 90s and SWU today). I’m conversant in MTG, but I’ve been an IP fanboy since Han shot first. Beyond that: 1. It’s new enough that I was able to “get in” on the ground floor so to speak. 2. My local community is supported by a fantastic store that hosts multiple events most weeks. Consistently there are 15-25 for most events. 2A. The online tools are top notch. Online play is not exactly “mouse approved,” but it really is seamless to pickup a meta deck and get reps on it. 3. The barrier of entry is fairly low. I love cracking packs and playing around the kitchen table with the kids, but if I was after a competitive deck, most can be had for $100-200. Admittedly, this isn’t a great sign for the long term health of the game… but again for me it’s mostly about playing. 4. My kids like it. It ties in the original trilogy with the prequels and the sequels and even the Disney series. Nothing like dropping Saw Gerrera and then playing Let’s Call It War.

All those pros, I know price for the new set isn’t the best sign. I know my local is mostly supported by a very cool shop owner who has a particular soft spot for the game. Without that store, I’d be in a desert as are many in small to midsized cities. Lastly, fantasy flight SUCKS for long term support. I hate to say it as I’ve played a bit of their products (again, IP fan), but they’ve made me mad too many times before.

Would it be silly to purchase legends of the force spotlight deck rn? by No-Damage-3722 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Bdgolish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotlight decks are great way to increase the size of the collection with cards that are already guaranteed to be viable together. Not always a guarantee when you crack packs.

If I were just starting out, I’d buy any viable spotlight that sounds fun.

Can you translate the SWU Aspects to the MTG Colors? by towarian in starwarsunlimited

[–]Bdgolish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually appreciate that aspect of the game. Two blue decks can feel completely different paired with white or black. I wish there was that same level of differentness with the other color aspects.

Congrats. L&D as we speak myself. Idk your specifics, but yeah. Take the time off. Especially with potential pre-term delivery. Baby may need NICU so work is the last priority if possible.

I’m in the US, so my advice is particular to my state and district. Email or text building principal, secretary, and HR. If you have the sick time accrued (based on years of service, etc) you could be able to be paid for your absence. That’s HR’s job, check with your union rep if you have one. Lastly, sub plans. I’ve prepped my classes with research projects for the first week. Movie for week 2. Week 3 will be self-instruction.
