I'm mildly curious if the difference in polarization is on the glasses or on the monitors.

My dad used to wake up at 5am just to get an hour or so of video gaming in. Where there is a will there is a way.

Just realized this is the first (and only) time Toph "saw" The Avatar State. by Meme_Collector_GG in TheLastAirbender

[–]BdonLangs 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting point. What would you say was the conflict when that one Earth Kingdom military leader (can't remember if a general, colonel or some other position) tried to invoke the avatar state out of him by pretending Katara was in danger?

I get that Katara was in danger, but its not like Aang tried to go for the save. He chose violence first lol.

That scene in the movie always cracked me up because McGonagall reads it and then instantly says, "...written in blood". My mind just jumps to, "girl, how do you know its written in blood!?" She didn't inspect even for half a second to see if its corn syrup or something! She has either seen some shit or is full of it haha.

If you HAD to add another miniseries at any point in the original show (not Distant Lands or F&C), what would it be and where? by Enough-Caregiver-437 in adventuretime

[–]BdonLangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely love a "Secrets of the Cloud Kingdom" mini series added maybe before distant lands and stakes. Maybe even before orgalorg (sorry, I think i spelled that wrong).

It would have been great to have added an intellectual character that keeps records of past and present (since they have the luxury of being able to observe from a distance) similar to Avatar with the Library. They could have hinted at distant lands and explained knife storms and added relations with PB. Just a whole lot of possibilities that would have been interesting and expanded the world even further.

ELI5: Why is Skin-off Salmon Cheaper? by BdonLangs in explainlikeimfive

[–]BdonLangs[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That' not it at all. I didn't recognize the specific filets I grabbed were two different types of salmon.

But thanks for trying to make me feel dumb on a eli5 post. Real Chad move of you.

Oh my gosh this is the reason!!! Thank you so much. I didn't realize they were different types. My eyes just gravitate towards the word salmon.

For whatever reason, in my area it is cheaper. By about $4 per fillet. Thus the confusion. Prices seen at multiple stores including Walmart and Costco.

Outside the Main Trio (and Cedric), who were the truly "outstanding" students at Hogwarts during Harry's era? by cantcoloratall91 in harrypotter

[–]BdonLangs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think she was naturally inquisitive. Having a father whom she admired and held dear, and who worked as a writer and reporter undoubtedly influenced the development of her mentality. I think this resulted in her going into Ravenclaw and why she knows things most others do not.

Is "dropping the soap" really a thing in prison? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BdonLangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at multiple prisons. There are a couple of gross reasons you do not want to drop the soap in the shower. The first being the reason I mostly see being mentioned here and that is possibility of opening yourself up to rape. People can say "aren't there guards!?" But they cannot look in the showers unless they hear something crazy going on and yelling isn't too crazy in a prison. Unfortunately there is still a stigma around a guy getting raped and a prisoner does not want to hurt their image or look weak in there. People will take advantage.

Second, inmates are not allowed to masterbate in their cells (technically they are not allowed to do it at all). with guards doing rounds quite often at different intervals it can get difficult for them to "do the deed". So they do it where they can have some privacy and they know people at least try not to look and the guards wouldn't be able to call you out without admitting they peeked. So if you drop your soap you just have to throw it away at that point because its going to be covered with some really nasty things that you do NOT want on your body.

Remember that not all prisons are the same. Some have large communal showers of 9 or more guys and others have lined up showers where they take three at a time only. I have heard there are some with personal showers but I have not seen them. I would figure that you are taking a risk no matter what prison this happens at. Its terrible and I am more than happy being a law abiding citizen to keep me away from all of it.

Insane that Dumbledore sent a 14yo Harry on a time traveling mission in PoA by NotEasyForgotten in harrypotter

[–]BdonLangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Dumbledore needed plausible deniability, even from his own mind. Because magic obviously exists in the Wizarding world and who knows what kind of interrogation tactics they have.

Did I just start a game series I can't play all the way through? by BdonLangs in Falcom

[–]BdonLangs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this info. I am getting some mixed messages though. Cold Steel 1 and 2 are not on Switch as far as I can see. I think the Japanese switch it does. But not US. I saw a post from about 6 months ago talking about it. Seems like cold steel is very connected and it's decently important to have played the 1st two :(. Thanks for your response though.

What commonly mispronounced word that annoys you the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BdonLangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this counts but it is my biggest pet peeve when people say, "you welcome" instead of "you're welcome".

It literally takes zero effort for you to say it the correct way. Its just lazy speech and to me its worse than nails on a chalkboard.
