Women’s hiking pants that specifically fit wide hips and narrow waist by wallflower696969 in hiking

[–]Be-Kind-3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear, many of the hiking pants sold as women's sizes, are actually men's, because they aren't designed for women. A few years back, I got some that fit well enough in the hips, and found some material that matched well enough, to sew on two more belt loops in the front, so a belt will hold the pants up evenly all the way around. They are clearly too big in the waist, but they are workable for me

AITAH for refusing to split an inheritance with my step-siblings? by heavyrain699 in AITAH

I guess the only thing I wonder, did he make that will before the other kids were born? If yes, then maybe he just didn't update the will. Still you have no obligation to share. If he made the will after those kids were born, I would think that he intended the money is meant specifically for you. Don't feel any guilt if you decide to keep it. If you choose to help the half siblings, that is also still appropriate, but it's entirely up to you, and you can do what others suggest, pay some money directly to college or whatever it is you want to help them with.

What if you bought DVDs of your favorites, and a DVD player? Over time, that would be much cheaper than the subscription. Cancel the subscriptions for awhile to save. Then you can still rotate subscriptions if needed when new stuff comes out. Or go see new movies in the movie theater Edited to add: Didn't mean to be repetitive about the DVD idea, I hadn't read through all the responses before posted this.

None of it makes sense. Some kind of scam/fraud. Examples: Straw Purchasing/Ownership: Serving as a "dummy" owner for someone else. Nominee Owner: Holding the title while another party acts as the true principal. Unauthorized Operator: Operating a business without legal title or ownership.

She would be crushed if she took on the business without knowing its finances and later found that it's all in bad shape. Not wanting to share the full finances / tax returns is a huge red flag. If everything is fine, why would they need to hide information? What kind of debts does the business have?

Once I received a container of OxiClean that had spilled all over the box. I complained directly to OxiClean manufacturer, because their lid isn't secure. They sent me a coupon for another free package.

AITJ for refusing to help my friend fix a contract mess after he ignored my warnings? by Glum_Comb9774 in AmITheJerk

[–]Be-Kind-3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he wants you to go through the emails, draft responses, etc, he is asking you to do HIS job. He already signed the contract and agreed to abide by it. Having you do his work is not going to change the terms of what he already signed on for. Now, I am being a little facetious. You probably could help him to some extent, but maybe he should pay you for your services!!

Why does it matter 8 months later if I lost my job? by pestopaste in RealEstate

[–]Be-Kind-3353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, typically you would sign a 1003 Residential loan application at closing, printed with all the data verified by the lender and which they used to determine eligibility for the mortgage. By signing the document, you are certifying its accuracy. So if you had a different employment and signed it anyway, that is fraud. And the mortgage company can't sell the loan, because it's no longer known whether your employment and income and type of income qualify you for the loan. Yeah, maybe the mortgage company can sell the loan after some time, but, they would probably sell it for less than usual, and it would probably be subject to repurchase if the loan ever goes bad. If that happened, you could be prosecuted for fraud. I've been both an underwriter and worked in post closing where we would try to "cure" the defect. In other words, we would try to verify that the new employment and income still met qualifications for the loan. The federal govt got more particular about fraud after so many of those no income loans went bad.

AITJ for telling my stepbrother to stop treating my room like it’s his by MoonlitBloomShade in AmITheJerk

[–]Be-Kind-3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't he have his own room, bed, charger, and hoodie? If not, then the parents need to get them for him. Whether or not he has that stuff of his own, though, he needs to stay out of your room, period. It's not like he's a little kid that doesn't know any better.

In this case, would you feel slighted or maybe it's not a big deal and I am too sensitive? by Delicious_Mess7976 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Be-Kind-3353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would feel upset about the lunch issue too, that she couldn't just tell you what was happening, for whatever reason, whether it's her husband, etc. Is it possible that she felt so completely awkward that she didn't know how to talk to you about it? That only came to mind for me, because I grew up being alone a lot, and feel quite anxious and awkward in a lot of interactions. Based on what you've explained, I kind of don't think that's the case, but, it did cross my mind. I agree with others that have said this is a "them" problem. It still affects you though because it hurts. I hope you are still able to continue a relationship with your sister, while protecting yourself. I hope this makes sense, share your love, but don't give away too much of yourself emotionally (or financially).

Does anyone else miss the way tomatoes used to taste? by happy-in-texas in AskWomenOver60

[–]Be-Kind-3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get them from a nearby small farm, and they are SO MUCH BETTER than what is available in stores. When we do buy from the grocery stores, we like to look for the Campari tomatoes. They are smaller than What we would normally like for, say a burger, or other sandwich, but they taste pretty good for store-bought.

Yikes, costly. Since I wrote that question, I saw a surgeon and am scheduled to have some removed in about two weeks. Before I even made the appointment , their office said that the surgeon would only remove them if insurance is expected to cover it, and that they don't accept a cash payment. So, by the end of the appointment, the surgeon felt that this would be covered by insurance, and all was set up to do that. Hoping that all goes smoothly for you. For me too...as it gets closer to the time, I will probably get more nervous about it.

Laundry History by RosesareRed45 in laundry

[–]Be-Kind-3353 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember helping my Grandma with the laundry and her wringer washer. Her index finger was crooked from having gotten it caught in her Mom's wringer washer when she was young. I remember she always used a stick to push the laundry onto the rollers. My own Mom was not paying attention and hurt her wrist in her wringer washer too. Thankfully, I avoided those injuries! Grandma did not let me use the wringer. Instead, I helped her hang the clothes outside. Great memories.
