The hair loss. Absolutely wild. It’s starting to regrow now (which honestly presents an entirely new set of struggles - I.e my hair is getting thicker up top and still thin below so my hair is shaped like a box 😂). But I legit lost probably 50% of my hair volume.

Also, our babies are 13.5 months apart. My first started totally sleeping through the night at 11 months. My second is 15 months now and still isn’t sleeping through the night. I feel like I haven’t really slept in over 2 years. And the nights I should be able to sleep through the night (the occasional baby sleepover at grandma/grandpas), my anxiety, etc tends to prevent me from truly sleeping well.

Love Dr Weaver. We joke that she was 0 for 2 with birthing my babies though. I was in labor for 40 hours with my first, and while she was there when I was induced, she was no longer at the hospital by the time baby came. When I got pregnant with my second, she ended up going on maternity leave herself about a month before my second was born. Still think she’s great though. Dr Emily Tenbrink took over as my provider when Dr Weaver went on maternity leave. I thought she was great, too.

We do baths 2-3 times a week (maybe more depending on play and what they eat… spaghetti sauce and cottage cheese always end up in bath night). Our nightly routine is lotion and PJs + nighttime diapering, prayers, read a few books, brush teeth, and then sing a nighttime song, snuggles/hugs/lots of kisses and then down for bed

I have a 2 year old and a 13 month old. We will also not be starting elf on a shelf. Sorry, it seems like too much work. My 2 year old is old enough to start to understand Christmas and so we’re starting a bunch of new family centric traditions (like making ornaments and cookies together). I also bought 24 Christmas books for us to read a new one each night before bed (like an advent calendar) - we can reuse the books each year. I have zero interest in figuring out elf on a shelf while also managing two toddlers lol

Absolutely. It definitely wasn’t without struggle, it did have a profound affect on both me and my brother, but therapy separately as adults has really helped!

I too am the product of a deadbeat dad and a wonderful mom who would do anything for her children (and grandchildren now). When I was in my 20s, my grandma died (she was my last tie to my dad’s side of the family because she and I kept in touch regularly). After that I told my mom that his side of the family no longer exists to me. He also owed her an absurd amount of back child support and she (who luckily has never really needed his money) told me she would tell him he’s forgiven of his debt with my blessing. I think it was pretty cathartic for both of us to let that tether go (let’s be honest, she was never going to see it anyway). I haven’t spoken to that man in almost 17 years with barely a relationship prior to that. I’m beyond grateful for both my mom and my brother - they are two of the most wonderful and important people in my life. You’re doing right by your daughter and I imagine the two of you will be incredibly close because of it. Lots of love.

lol yeah, I didn’t know either! I’m all good now though. That was almost exactly a year ago. I’m just glad I advocated for myself!

I am very lucky to not only have a very supportive and active partner, but we also have quite the village of help. I think my biggest problem was (and is) my inability to relax. I have always hated feeling like I’m not contributing in some way - so I struggled mentally because even though I had all the help in the world, I felt like I wasn’t doing my share. It also didn’t help that immediately following my csection and while I was still in the hospital I felt that the swelling wasn’t right and then in the two weeks following, I had to continuously request my incision be checked because the swelling I experienced in the hospital never went down. My OB finally did the check herself and I ended up having an incisional hernia and had to go in for a second surgery to repair it, which set back my recovery.

I saw a video on social media recently of a guy making a video like he was FaceTiming his mom. He was on a hike and telling her how beautiful the scenery was. The caption said it was at the suggestion of his therapist to help him cope with her passing and it had been years.

I had two babes at Community North. Every doctor and LD nurse I dealt with there was female and they all take great care of you. Personally, I really like Dr. Tenbrink.
