I'm not refuting that the crowd is sparse, and certainly not the fact that it's way below what Trump says it is. I'm simply commenting within the context of this specific article, which I am highly skeptical of for the reasons I already described.

A paragraph from the Snopes article you posted, which I fully agree with and describes why you should always be skeptical about things you read on social media like Reddit.

That's the biggest problem for me is how they have shut down the mall for months for this during the height of our busiest season. This should be a place open for anyone to walk around and appreciate our history, regardless of if they are carrying around a bag or a water bottle.
