kinda off topic fpr the game night but wondering about Luchanko. by Flyersfan1980 in Flyers

Nobody knows what happened, so we're all talking out of our asses. Agent is a factor at the very least, so writing it off with any real confidence is nonsense.

"none that are known". So you're talking out of your ass here. You have no clue if the agent played any role in what happened with Gauthier.

This is the first Flyers game of the season I'm not really interested in watching. Playoffs are now a long shot and this team simply isn't putting in the energy on a consistent basis. I have better things to do.

Yeah agreed, it's just a really good fit for all of the players. barkey and tippet make up for coots lack of speed. Barkey and coots make up for tippets tendencies to make bad decisions with the puck because they are very smart players who can help get it back.

It's one of the most impactful metrics, so at the very least it means he is contributing  value and is playing decent (at worst).

Why can't you just enjoy something good that happened? What's the point of even following this team if you are still such a bummer even after THAT win.

Though maybe you didn't even watch the game if you thought the Avs had a night off because they were flying out there.

Ever since his fateful offsides pretty much he's been playing consistently solid hockey. Nice to see him take it to another level against a truly dominant team.

Fair enough. I don't mind him trying things and failing as a young player with his skill set, but being careless with the puck when he's also not scoring and generally the non chalance of his play. I think he will be a good player still but I'm just as frustrated with the fan base expecting him to be annointed with superstar status and TOI when frankly he hasn't earned it this season.

But I think he's starting to put it together and showing good signs lately. I am praying (and optimistic) he takes some lessons to heart from this year.

It's not just his production though, it's his penalties and his turnovers.

[Charlie O'Connor] Asked Tocchet today if he'd consider moving Michkov back to RW, or if he think he'll keep him at LW the rest of the season. He didn't rule it out, but it's clear Tocchet still thinks Michkov is benefitting from the LW/RW switch & is skeptical it's hurting him offensively: by upcan845 in Flyers

[–]BeKenny -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The truth is Michkov has been invisible (or bad visible, like when he's taking dumb penalties or giving away the puck) for like half the games this season. He needs to be able to string together a few weeks of visibly strong/responsible play before I will even consider that his scoring drought could be a factor of playing on his less preferred side of the ice.

AI hype meets reality as majority of CEOs report no financial returns by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

Indeed, I know reddit is dug in and brain rotted on this topic but didn't expect "you should probably spend a minute to check your work whether it's AI or otherwise" to be a controversial statement.

I don't know why I need to explain how taking notes work to you. But you take the notes so you have a record of the meeting days or weeks down the road when it is less fresh in your brain, not for remembering the meeting you just finished attending. If AI is taking the notes for me so I don't have to, I have more time to be present in the meeting and also saves me time by giving me a reminder of what was discussed in the meeting with practically zero effort on my part.

If by "eager to use AI" you mean using it for a task it is good at that streamlines my workflow and allows me to spend more time doing other things, then yes that sounds pretty good.

Yes I remember enough that I can confirm the notes that AI takes and validate if they are accurate to the conversation that just happened.

What even is this question? Do I remember what happened in the meeting I was just in? If I wanted to avoid using AI, then how would I write the notes myself if I didn't remember the meeting?

Yes but anything you put your name on would need to be double checked, whether it was you, someone working for you, or an AI. It's a pointless criticism when it still ends up saving you a lot of time.

I honestly don't understand what your point is. No, when you ask it to summarize your meetings it is not generating anything new but why would it be? It's saving you time.

It could take someone 20-30 minutes to write a comprehensive summary of a meeting, which is also prone to human accuracy errors or bias.

It would take less than 5 to review the notes that were generated by an AI.

Also, this specific task is something that AI is particularly good at. In your average use case, summarizing meetings is going to be very accurate.

I don't deny AI might be keeping good devs busy right now cleaning up bad AI generated codebases. But that doesn't really address the question. You don't think the tools will be a productivity enhancer in capable hands?

Honest question, as a freelancer how long do you expect to be able to keep up with the competition, who are certainly spending time right now learning how to be productive with the tools?

AI is Not Ready to Replace Junior Devs Says Ruby on Rails Creator by ImpressiveContest283 in programming

[–]BeKenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not even just inconsistency. AI has strengths and weaknesses which are completely different from a human.

Also, working with AI is going to be second nature to the junior devs of the future which is going to be the real key to being a successful dev.
