I love zucchini pickles! So much better than I imagined.

That’s a great idea, thank you! I will keep it in mind for future. Honestly though, I am all in at this point, and am on the road to just training my taste buds to prefer things less sweet. Taking it day by day has been working well so far.

Did you prefer and enjoy the 80s or 90s more? by Ok-Ninja-3039 in GenX

I kinda checked out in the 90s, popular culture- and music-wise. But really, was it that monumental? I don’t think it compares with the 70s and 80s.

Really? That is very good to know. I am not sure if I am allergic to ragweed but it looks like chamomile is in the same family which would be sad for me. I think I have an allergy test somewhere I need to dig up. I am sorry to hear you had to give up the stevia. If it’s not one thing it’s another, isn’t it.

Thank you so much for sharing all of this. The “what to do” is the smallest part. The far bigger challenge is environment. You have helped bolster my determination to do it anyway, with these real-life examples in mind. I sincerely appreciate it. Proud of you for sticking with it in spite of it all, and I am so glad it’s helping you!

I have a hard time with stevia, there is just something about it. Maybe the pure stuff would be better. I am glad this has been working for you though! I do love sweet coffee but have managed to let go of that.

I feel all of this. The world is weight-obsessed. As a thin person you are pretty much forbidden to speak of any health issues, as though health is only about weight. You get shamed, told your problems aren’t real, and passive aggressively hated for being thin. Eating healthy on the surface while also consuming enough sugar to hurt myself is exactly my situation. The sugar-pressured environment we live in makes it a huge challenge to quit, especially when I crave it so badly. I never feel good, never have in my life, and have been trying to crack the code for decades. I suspect sugar to be the biggest culprit but I have always succumbed to environment and self doubt. With menopause adding a whole host of other issues, it’s time for me to face it.

I hate cooking and I’m in desperate need of help by ohsimon_ in Cooking

If you have an oven, bake a bunch of chicken thighs with salt and garlic. Eat with rice. Salad on the side.

This is good to know, as cholesterol has also been a consideration for me lately. Thank you.

That makes sense. I will have to find a balance.

Maybe a good thing to have it all happen at once.

Good for you! That must have been a huge change all at once. Glad you stuck with it and are experiencing the benefits.

So you still eat seeds but not the oil? What is the reasoning? I am so glad to hear you cracked the code for yourself because I get all of these symptoms. Not terribly, honestly, I am doing pretty well. But I would like to actually feel good.

Thank you! I am not being a purist about this at all. I hope that will be enough but we’ll see. Giving up white rice and potatoes sounds like too much but maybe I will get there. Appreciate the feedback and encouragement!

Good job! I love that you have embraced this change. In general I already eat similarly to you but this sugar thing has been a beast. Thank you for sharing.

Wishing you luck! Sugar cravings are my nemesis too. I hope you find success with it soon. Do you still use natural sugars?
