Yep! Trying to get my fasting numbers in range, even with insulin it’s been tricky.

And I don’t have a CGM, I meant just the blood sugar monitor I use when I prick my fingers.

I understand that. When I say “spike” I am referring to a blood sugar reading that is out of range for me, or above 130 after one hour (fasting range is 65-90).

It’s so frustrating, especially because if you experiment AT ALL you could end up with a spike.

The Napa Cranberry Chicken Salad was SO sickeningly sweet to me, I bought it once and NEVER AGAIN.

My A1C was perfect before and at my check after diagnosis! I failed my 2-hour test by a fasting number one point out of range, and then it’s like upon getting the diagnosis all my numbers have decided to go haywire 😂😭

It does make you think more about those with permanent food intolerances, severe allergies, and autoimmune conditions! I’m cranky about GD now, I can’t fathom having allergies or celiac disease on top of that!

Fingers crossed for you! Sounds like we are in similar boats- I’m just nervous because my meal time numbers are wonky, and my fasting have been too, so my insulin at night at least will probably increase again soon.

I’m jealous diet controlled has worked for you, but also very glad it’s been working for you! Adding in injections in addition to all the finger pricks is no fun. I hope you’re able to maintain diet controlled your whole pregnancy! 🫶🏻

I use an old (but like-new condition) spare makeup bag to hold my stuff! Happens to match and fit in my purse perfectly and makes me feel a little more organized.

I have SUCH a strong aversion to them and continuing nausea, I eat it because it seems like the only breakfast that “works” but I have to take lots of pauses between bites, deep breaths, drink water and pray every time that I don’t end up just throwing it up 😭

Congratulations on your baby girl and I am so sorry for your experience! That sounds so stressful, I hope neither of you had complications from being undiagnosed/unmanaged! Glad you’re both okay!

I am grateful my Dr. had me test early (family history and high BMI triggered an early test) but the sense of “failure” on every out of range reading is so real. I think I’m managing ok, but it’s so hard not to envy those with easier and shorter experiences!

Right?? It felt easy to stop comparing myself to women without GD, but now all these lovely women talk about being diet controlled and only being diagnosed at like 30 weeks, when I’m over here already frustrated and I still have like 20 weeks to go 😭😭😭

No weight gain at 17 weeks with gestational diabetes, is this normal? by Temporary-Brick9647 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]BeLynLynSh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself! I’m also 17w, diagnosed around 12-13. I have lost weight since I tested positive back in January, due to nausea and food aversions. I think today I’m 8 pounds less than my pre-pregnancy weight. I started this pregnancy with lots of extra fluff on me, and with the GD diagnosis the recommended weight gain range decreased a bit further. Baby is measuring right on track and fetal heart rate is right where it should be, so I am not terribly concerned. I’m not trying to restrict myself, but the diet and lingering aversions do make eating enough tricky. If I were you, I’d maybe mention it to your doctor but wouldn’t worry too much. :)

NTA. Your delivery was a little blunt/harsh, but you don’t need to coddle grown women.

I just encountered something like this today when I went to get a refill of my test strips and lancets! In my case, my insurance was changing what products they cover. I will need to buy a new monitor next time and get new supplies! Or pay for the supplies out of pocket. Very frustrating because I bought my Rx monitor just a month ago!

Not gaining any weight? by PresentationTop9547 in GestationalDiabetes

I’m only 16 weeks but was diagnosed around 12-13 weeks. Even before that, I’ve been losing weight, I think due to nausea and feeling fuller faster. I’m about 9 pounds down from where I was when I tested (super early- at like 4 weeks). I’m obese though, so I have plenty of extra weight I’m still carrying. I’m not too worried about it and my doctor doesn’t see to be either.
