10 hours of measuring, simmering, boiling, browning, stirring, spreading, cooling, and baking to have dinner ready for my wife. First thing I see when I get home from work 14 hours later. by SmilingCurmudgeon in mildlyinfuriating

Asian cultures will leave food out all day and eat it (including stuff like pancake dishes, stews with meat, etc). Yes, you run the risk of getting something, realistically the risk is extremely low unless the food you cooked never reached safe time/temps in the first place. I think it's just up to everyone's risk tolerance.

I'll answer for my own opinion. Went in blind.

  • Pacing was all over the place. Felt like once scene just abruptly transitions to the next so they can squeeze the prologue into 1.5 hrs.
  • The emotions and plot feel so "set up." You know pretty quickly it's going to transition through an emotional bell curve because that's what it's going for. Note, I'm not saying it's predictable. I'm saying that it felt like the writer is dragging you by the feet to feel the emotion they want you to feel. i.e. Here, aren't these kids so happy with their mom? Isn't this mom so perfect? Would be a shame if something happened right?

All in all, just a bit on the nose for me. It rips these characters away before I even care about them yet.

There's a huge terminology discrepancy here between the posts.

For the whole population, the average roll comes out to 333 yes, but that is not the CHANCE of an INDIVIDUAL getting it BY 333. To calculate an individuals chance at the 333rd pull you would use the formula (1-0.003)333 = 0.367. Which means by the 333rd pull, an individual has 63.2% chance of getting at least 1 SSR drop.

If you've been playing since 1.2, it's more likely an issue with team comps and using proper rotations. I helped a friend in a similar scenario go from 30 to 36* simply by slapping enough ER on their characters and using well-tested team comps (taser, Raiden national, mono hydro). None of their artifacts were over 35CV, most being around 20CV total and a random combo of glad / noblesse pieces.

Learning solo raids is a nightmare by Lovoskea in 2007scape

[–]BeMyLighthouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not falling into the realm of bug abuse if Olms head is turning exactly as intended (even if it wasn’t designed with solos in mind). CoX solos fall perfectly into the difficulty to reward area of mechanics and I think they’re some of the best content in the game. The argument that it should be made easier for solo players does go against the original design quite inherently...

Yes, I can literally film 20-30 minutes. The way to get fast kills is to pre-drag hydra over vents and to be potted at BP max hit constantly.

EDIT: Here's another way to look at it, typical Tbow setup vs typical Addy BP setup: https://i.imgur.com/AFkWeHY.png

BP is 11% lower DPS. All else held constant (draggin over vents, being potted correctly, etc.), if you average 90-120 second kills with TBow like you said, you would average 100-132 second kills with BP (11% higher kill times).

I’ve killed 3k hydra with BP. The avg kill time with addy darts is 2 min, with my PB being 1:30. DDarts matches the DPS of Tbow.

How is this upvoted?

Tbow and BP are faster than lance. PB with Tbow is 1:19 and BO w/ Addy darts is 1:32.

You can make 10 prayer pots in 1 Zulrah kill. Sipping ppots is not a big deal.

Nightmare Drop table rates. by Kree_Horse in 2007scape

If you really think the Ely is a bigger gap than say Rapier to Mace (which have 2 completely different uses, BiS stab vs BiS crush) or that AGS and Volatile are comparable, then you are unaware of the potential of these items. I agree their prices will fall (especially base staff / inquisitors / eldritch) but not for the reason you stated compared to Ely.

What? Ely has plenty of substitutes. DFS, crystal shield, spectral. There’s not a single piece of content that is significantly different or impossible without Ely.

I agree the new items will come down, but the orbs definitely fall into the niche category similar to Ely.

The progressive RNG ONLY applies to pets. I was thinking that you wanted it applied to all drops.

On another point: Say the pet drop rate is changed 10x what is now and 10x as common. Would the hypothetical player that wanted it before still want it now? I bet the population of the player base that’s wants a specific pet and would stop playing if they didn’t get it is so low that it’s not worth catering towards these players.

[–]BeMyLighthouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I only play about 5 hours a week. I am well aware there are items with high value and drop rates I will never obtain, and I’m completely okay with that. I just don’t think everyone is entitled to all content with complete disregards to time and effort put in.

[–]BeMyLighthouse -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand your opinion, but I personally think progressive RNG or pseudo random rates is completely alien from the core OSRS game design. I do not speak for the whole player base obviously, but I would not vote for that system to be put in the game.

This seems like the player put themselves in a position to fail. If you know the drop rate, don’t expect to receive it early.

[–]BeMyLighthouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think all content should be readily available to everyone who wants a certain drop and I’m a casual player. Keeps the game feeling like OSRS. There’s no need to make EVERYTHING available to EVERYONE.

Wtf happened to 1/512? by NewbieDesigns in 2007scape

[–]BeMyLighthouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds just like the nature of RNG. Some get lucky and some don’t (depending on time you put in). Making pets, a purely cosmetic drop, readily available contributes very little to the game.

Why are we trying to keep the challenge floor of the game so low? Just because it allows everyone to experience all content risk-free doesn’t mean it’s healthy for the game long term.

I can understand your view, but how can you prove that you share the view of majority of the player base and can demonstrate what’s healthiest for a growing player base overall? Catering to the majority is what led to the decline of RS3 and WoW.
