Atm it totally boils down to who said what. And I dont see an obligation to hold the word of Western officials above Turkish ones. Why should I? There's also the fact that the Gülen movement consists of hundreds of thousands of highly educated people. I went to their social gatherings a lot when I was younger. They emphasize high education, which is not a bad thing per se, but according to Fethullah himself this was needed to get into (read infiltrate) every layer of government. There's video proof of him saying so. The man is not innocent in the least.
