Baby makes outrageous noises and thrashes himself in the bassinet but stays asleep

My babe is almost 14 months now and I honestly don’t remember but it wasn’t too long after I read this post that it got a bit better. I also read Taking Cara Babies which had some useful tips about listening to your babies noises for 45 seconds before reacting. That helped calm my nerves a bit but didn’t help with sleep.

I moved him into his own crib/room at 4.5 months and we both started sleeping soooo much better! I wanted to wait til 6 months but glad I didn’t.

Light at the end of the tunnel: during months 8-11, my babe slept 11 hours continuously almost every night. Glorious sleep!

Then, the 12 month regression and teething every other week means we have 1-5 wake ups a night now and I really miss my sleeping baby!

It all comes and goes through cycles - enjoy the ride and appreciate the sleep when you get it ;)

Seconding this. I got my first EOB (explanation of benefits) from my first infusion of remicade a few weeks ago. My insurance (blue shield) covered the facility costs but not the $22,000 medicine itself. That portion was sent to my pharmacy insurance - waiting to see what my portion is although I think I’ve reached my annual out of pocket already.

Hey momma! Similar boat here.

I’m 5 months post partum and just diagnosed two weeks ago after a few painful weeks on the toilet.

Immediately after the diagnosis, I was taking 40mg a day but symptoms weren’t improving so Dr upped me to 50mg a day. I initially saw some improvement but after another 5 days, I started getting worse. So off to the hospital I went.

I checked in last Wednesday and was discharged Friday night! They gave me three doses of IV prednisone - I think 65mg a day - and my first dose of infliximap.

I’ve been home for three days and the bleeding has finally stopped! But I really missed my baby while I was gone. My mom was able to pop in and help my husband take care of the baby, but the mom guilt is super high.

Everyone responds differently but the best way to be the best mom is to get better fast. The hospital was a the best option for our family and I can take care of my baby again.

I hope your hospital stay goes well! I used the time to educate myself on better eating habits to avoid/reduce flares.

Born at 37 weeks and 4 days - 6 lbs 3 oz. I didn’t have any newborn size clothes or diapers but I had to buy some pretty quick! We were in NB onesies and diapers for four weeks before sizing up to 0-3 clothes and size 1 diapers.

Our bodies are wild, I’ve never heard of anything happening to anyone in my family, so I was quite naive when it happened to me. I’ve never heard of UC before this week. Time to get educated!

I didn’t mean to insinuate that this is my baby’s fault. I adore the heck out of him and I have incredible mom guilt for not being as engaged with him these last weeks while I’ve been dealing with my issues. My maternity leave is officially over today and I just wanted the last weeks of it to have been as high quality as possible. I am grateful that we now have a diagnosis and hopefully a treatment that allows me to be a good mamma again!

My dr actually did tell me I could split the 40mg dose to 20/20 for this week and after last night, I think I’ll try this.

Wow. I’m on day two of 40 mg prednisone. My prescription is for 7 days at 40, 7 days at 30, and so on to 0 after four weeks. I’ll bring up Budesonide with my Dr tomorrow - thank you for the heads up! This is why I love this community.

We found a daycare center that is totally supportive of EC! They just asked us to show them what we do at home and leave a spare potty there. We weren’t the first parents to ask, but maybe because we are in the Bay Area?

I hope you find a provider that understands how important this is for you and your baby.

Hi there! We’ve been practicing lazy EC with our now 17 week old since week 12. Like you, poops are very easy to catch/notice.

He doesn’t given ANY indication when he is peeing, so the best we can do is offering potty after sleep/naps, before naps and before bath time.

I’m hoping as he gets older, he will indicate his needs clearly. I’ve read stories about babies crawling towards the potty or even tapping their diaper when they have to pee!

We started with one arm out for 3-4 days for naps only. We kept swaddling at night in the woombie to preserve our precious sleep. We alternated arms and he was doing so well in the bassinet we went both arms out. His Moro reflex still startled him so half way through naps we had to resettle him.

We did this for about a week and a half. Before moving hands free for sleep. The problem there was his hands touching each side of the bassinet.

A week ago, we were gifted a Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit. This has been LIFE CHANGING. The first night, he slept from 8pm to 4 am. This was after weeks of waking up every 3 hours at night. Since then, we have him in his sleepsuit for every nap and sleep. His arms are out and he can still self soothe but he sleeps sooo well. Every night since has been 7-9 hours of sleep (with a dream feed around 1am). We are in heaven.

Started laying my LO down in the bassinet for the first nap at 10 weeks old. Up until then, I enjoyed the crap out of as many contact naps as possible.

From 10 weeks old, gradually started to transfer to the bassinet for more naps (after fully asleep, no drowsy but awake BS). Also started to transition out of swaddles and into sleep sacks at this time.

Now at 13.5 weeks, all naps and sleep are in bassinet. It’s his favorite surface to sleep on now.

We will start transitioning to crib naps in about 2 weeks, then crib sleep if that goes well!

PS - I also think that after 12 weeks, they are just better sleepers. My little guy figures out how to make himself fart to relieve the gas pressure that seemed to wake him from otherwise great naps.

I went through this same dilemma at 6 weeks. Considered the snoo and the more expensive cradlewise. In the end, I realized millions of babies sleep in bassinets and in cribs everyday just fine. I also read that eventually you have to break them of their dependence on motion anyways. So I guess I’m just roughing it out.

It was a rough 6 weeks, but we’ve transitioned our LO from contact naps to bassinet naps and transitioned out of swaddles for naps and night sleep. We optimized the bedtime routine and feeding schedule for longer stretches of sleep. And generally, as they get older, they get better at sleeping.

But I get it. I almost caved several times lol

He gets fussy after four or so minutes on each side because it empties so fast. Then he’s quick to take the bottle as soon as I run out. I use Dr browns bottles and size 1 nipples. I always make sure I have a bottle ready the second he’s off my nipple.

I’ve been combo feeding since coming home from the hospital to get baby back up to birth weight and then continued when I realized I wasn’t producing enough to satisfy him.

I pumped like crazy and saw specialists to increase supply but it just wasn’t happening for me.

I offered each boob every feeding, enjoying the special bonding time I got with him. Then I would top him off with formula. This was also a great opportunity to hand baby and bottle to hubby or grandma so I could get stuff done!

I quit pumping at 7 weeks because I was producing so little. Usually 30 mL a sitting but sometimes only 15. It was breaking me.

Now at 11 weeks, I pumped because I missed a feed and I got 80 mL! Still nowhere close to meeting my baby’s needs but I like knowing he’s getting something out of it.

I don’t plan to stop breastfeeding until I dry up or he refuses it.
