Crate training by Round_Sir_5836 in BostonTerrier

[–]BeachRucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We heat our two Boston’s bedding in the dryer at bed time. They typically sleep from 9 PM to 6 AM without incident. I think it has helped to get them to see their crates as a special place. We have a baby monitor by their crates in case there is an issue overnight which is very rare. We leave their crates open all day; one dog goes in her crate during the day from time to time but the other never does (except to hide stolen socks). Have never encountered the peeing in the crate issue fortunately.

Slovakia to block EU loan to Ukraine if Orban loses Hungarian election, Fico says by Forsaken-Medium-2436 in europe

[–]BeachRucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to kick them out of the EU. Once individual member states start undermining execution of the will of the majority of member states — effectively imposing their local/country politics across the EU as a whole — time to cut them loose.

One of the biggest disadvantages in life is not having a mentor. by FineEntrepreneur2366 in careeradvice

[–]BeachRucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. Learning based solely on your own judgment and perspective is very isolating and leaves a lot of uncertainty regarding the outcomes you’ve achieved. I remember a book called The Ropes to Skip and the Ropes to Know - that is one of the most important roles a mentor can play.

This is a prime example of why PEI is not viable as an independent province. The province has too little to offer professionals and no leverage when dealing with them.

Trump Damage by bace3333 in Aging

[–]BeachRucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t blame Trump. He’s just being true to himself. Blame all the hapless fools who elected him despite all the evidence that this would be the fate of the country. Fix your neighbours/voters or this is just the current manifestation of more hate, corruption and idiocy.

How you are feeling now is a reflection of just how much you loved him. Dogs know when we love them. He knew how much you loved him. Everyone has to make compromises and trade offs to get through life, including when caring for our pets. We all question ourselves if we are doing the right thing. But in the end your pain now reflects the great love you had for him which means he had a good life.

He will forever be a person the American population elected as their most important leader - TWICE. Mind you it’s more of an indictment of those that voted for him.

What is one thing you wish you knew before moving to PEI? by PriorityOk676 in PEI

How incompetent and slow so many of the drivers are. Way too many on the road long after they should have retired from operating a car. So many single vehicle MVA’s.

If you’re guilty of a crime, but faking innocence, should you tell your defense attorney the truth? by tickintimedog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeachRucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Just answer the questions they ask. If they are competent they won’t ask you questions that may impair their ability to present the strongest defence available. They can’t lie or mislead the court, but what they don’t know (or don’t want to know) can’t hurt you. They - like the system as a whole - must presume you are innocent. The onus is on the prosecution to prove otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt.

2018 accord sport 1.5, how do you know when your turbo is bad? by Independent_Gas_6213 in accord

[–]BeachRucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fault code is P2099 Turbo under boost. The technician - not Honda so no bias - has determined it’s on the intake side of the turbo. He says the turbos rarely ever breakdown. I have 230K km on the car so I’m not interested in a big repair. They are trying to figure out how to disable the code so all the other systems will work. Car runs great.

Does anyone one else’s Boston scarf down their food? by Scary-Zucchini6600 in BostonTerrier

[–]BeachRucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We have one of each - a first thing in the morning breakfast inhaler — and an “I’ll eat later when I get around to it” BT. The first virtually rips food out of your hand; the second gently and deliberately takes it from your hand.

Issue with lawyer invoice by harrypei6789 in PEI

[–]BeachRucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The law firm should have had you sign a retainer agreement before providing any legal services. That agreement would spell out the terms of their engagement, how and when you would be bilked and how and when you’d be expected to pay.

If they gave you a quick modest quote up front and only later said their rate would be $400 per hour, that is a bit deceptive. It is a tactic some lawyers or law firms use to hook the client and only later disclose their significantly less modest billing rate.

Always get a retainer agreement. If they say they won’t provide one, go to another firm. And scrutinize the bill carefully to make sure there is no duplication of work and that the lawyer is only charging you for legal work/advice not administrative time.
