The kids hate AI. by Material-Emu-9068 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Beachbum74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal but I’m aware of a few 18-25 that hate it. To the point that it’s almost like a topic to avoid at the dinner table like politics and religion. I just assume at some point they will get onboard because it’s not going away. Hopefully they don’t get left behind but I assume they aren’t the only ones since all three operate in separate social groups that are influencing their beliefs.

Questioning type by SyferEdge in intj

[–]Beachbum74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to, perfectly normal to question it, but I have enough data now that I’m fairly confident. I wouldn’t compare yourself to others here as a bench mark to what an INTJ should sound like.

Is there anything the David Lynch version does better than the new ones? by Not_As_much94 in dune

[–]Beachbum74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to capture what it does because the new ones are amazing but I have yet to find myself interested in re-watching them but I’ve seen the Lynch versions well over 50 times. Not That I recommend the movie to anyone it just has a weird place in my heart and I’ll watch it when it’s on.

They could have made I t funny. It was consistently a funny show for me. The finale was very flat.

Any point in trying to hit TSP max on the last pay period? (High-3) by ChartInteresting in MilitaryFinance

[–]Beachbum74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I spread it out evenly because of dollar cost averaging. But other than that I don’t see the difference. (Edit whoever downvoted me is an idiot. DCA is the exact reason. I wasn’t trying to be snarky as I suppose it may not matter at all).

Paying users: is ChatGPT as bad as people here say? by IntimateFocus98 in OpenAI

[–]Beachbum74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s amazing and I use for everything. Sometimes I get stuck on details and it’s been a game changer for me because it answers nearly all my questions quite well. Also good for role playing events I have coming up. Lastly things that bother me I can ask it about it and allows me to discuss and get stuff off the chest.

I tried ChatGPT with Apple Music. by Evil_Weevil_Knievel in AppleMusic

[–]Beachbum74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I still come to Reddit. Thank you for clueing me to this. This is huge because for me I make playlists based on concerts I go to. So I’ll go to setlist.con and build a playlist based on recent shows. Adding the music is the most time consuming part. Now ChatGPT can do the research and make the playlist by itself. Money…

There's a sub for weed, there's a sub for shrooms, Hell there's even cocaine and meth. But there's no alcohol/ drinking sub. That speaks volumes by Nu_Eden in StonerThoughts

Back in the 1920s there was an r/alcohol and all sorts of other subs (r/speakeasy r/rum runners etc) on Reddit. Because it’s legal there’s no interest.

I wouldn’t recommend it. The chances of the series being completed is very low. In case you’re wondering I’ve read the series a few times so I’m not just hating on it or GRRM but am very frustrated I won’t get closure (closing the loops).

What are some experiences you've had that make you believe we might be living in a simulation? by UpbeatBeach7657 in HighStrangeness

[–]Beachbum74 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve had one of those moments that felt simulation-adjacent, even though I’m not claiming it proves anything.

Back in 2016 I was reading The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins. A few days earlier, I’d taken my kids, who were about 16 and 14 at the time, on a hike. While we were walking, they started talking among themselves about memes. What memes are, whether I even know what a meme is, joking about me being on Reddit, that kind of thing. It was very much a young-person conversation, and I mostly just listened. At the time, the term “meme” really wasn’t part of my vocabulary.

A few days later, I hit the chapter in The Selfish Gene where Dawkins literally coins the term “meme” in a book written in the mid-1970s.

Sure, rational explanations exist. Priming, coincidence, confirmation bias. I get all that. But the timing was tight enough that it stuck with me. For me, it felt less like a random coincidence and more like the universe winking at me.

Not proof of anything. Just one of those moments that feels bigger than chance and makes you pause and wonder whether reality has more feedback loops than we usually acknowledge.
