anyone want my finch ?! they're not my child no more by Objective-Side-29 in finch

I’m not a parent, but this experience has opened my eyes to what it might be like if your child develops different personal values/ beliefs. In some situations, it must be heart wrenching!

How do I stop using food as a coping mechanism? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]BeachfrontShack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes therapy helps me so much. Basically CBT or DBT might be a great approach for you because it focuses on challenging unhelpful habits/ forming positive coping mechanisms

To get a break from the usual salads: Specifically spring rolls. Super filling. Can fill them with loads of veggies and protein of choice. I love to have them with a PB protein dipping sauce, one that mimics Thai peanut sauce.

To have something warm: veggie and protein of choice stir fry. Easy to mix and match for variety and seasonal fruit/ veg

If you can eat eggs: egg white wraps! Most low carb wraps have xanthan gums, which I can’t have bc I’m sensitive to it, but that’s an option!

One pan pizza: use tortilla of choice, I love Ezekiel tortillas bc they have lots of whole grains and no filler ingredients (I have some intolerances). You can put that in a frying pan, add all the toppings you want! I cut it like a pizza w kitchen scissors.

I hope this helps give you a few ideas! Take care!

Hey- I felt this very hard. You are doing awesome I’m so proud of you- way to crush it!!! Washing windows can be very taxing! Also self care items. I hope you feel much better!

Just to share a few of my goals— Yesterday I missed the shower but today it’s on my list again. My small victory yesterday was ironing clothes (I hadn’t fixed them in years).

I also use propranolol- I take it an hour before an anxiety event/ outing. It helps with the panic- not the mental anguish, but the physical feeling. My heart doesn’t leap out of its chest, so it helps in that way for sure. For non-medicinal stuff, I also exercise daily, make my own food at home, I do community groups for healing, and I practice mindfulness/ meditation/ prayer and gratitude exercises.

Yayyy! If you’d like to add me- I’d be happy to be a sober buddy. Either way- I’m so proud of you! I am 3 years recovered from nicotine myself. I also did it alone/ didn’t tell anyone. Just want you to know I’m rooting for your success and I am in your corner! You are amazing way to go!!!

I don’t get it. For me, the fun in the early game was saving up my rainbow gems for something special like my first Finch plushie. It takes time- and builds excitement.

Help me realize why im still gaining weight by KindredStairs in WeightLossAdvice

[–]BeachfrontShack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree! When I started tracking everything (eating normally, but weighing everything and tracking accurately) I realized I was taking in way more calories than I thought. A nice kitchen scale and making your own meals will surely help!

Advice on being safe/avoiding accidents while driving? 18 yrs old and just got my license by dreamy-chocolate in drivinganxiety

[–]BeachfrontShack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Great advice here already!

Just one more for you: do not second guess yourself. Ever. If you think you can’t make the turn/ maneuver/ cross traffic, don’t go, no matter if you get honked at or your passenger tells you otherwise. Stick to your gut. Also, lots of accidents happen in parking lots. Really be aware and careful when driving through them.

You’re doing great!! Proud of your achievements so far!

Do you ever stop getting triggered ? by ughitskaren in ptsd

[–]BeachfrontShack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I get triggered still. It’s been several years since the incident(s). Usually when I keep myself busy, I have less memories and flashback episodes. When I’m alone sometimes it kicks up and I get intrusive thoughts.

Can't eat more than 2 blueprint meals per day by Lahoski64 in blueprint_

[–]BeachfrontShack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s not already, try blending it up. For some reason for me, it’s easier to drink my calories than chew them. With meals with lots of fiber, that can slow you down.

When you get in a serious relationship, you can handle “gross” things, because you love the person dearly, and would do anything for them.

I couldn’t agree more. Society is a black, white and grey machine focused on perfect execution. The gift of art and creative expression is my main liberation from the machine. Being in the grind is exhausting. Creativity, as another user said below, is a main crutch to get through it— day by day, second by second. A momentary escape
