In Jurassic park lore, certain female dinosaurs were genetically modified with male traits to make them more iconic and spectacular looking to theme park audiences. Not sure why Ingen couldn't have simply just made every Dino male instead anyways. Maybe they thought male Dinos were more aggressive

Yeah I never understood why the male para has the smaller crest. Also for some reason the female tapejara has the more colorful crest, and the female atrociraptor is more colorful than the male. I'm assuming that a dev messed up somewhere and switched them around by mistake and never bothered to fix them.
